Low carb or No carb confusion. Any advice?

I've been a little unsure as to what I should be doing this week. My stomach has been feeling much better since I cut down on the carbs. (not feeling bloated or sick after meals anymore) But I'm not sure if I should cut carbs out all together for a short while in order to lose weight.

My ultimate goal is to lose 50lbs. And my concern is, that I'm not actually following a weight loss plan like weight watchers or something. I'm just making it up as I go.

I have been really excited about looking at no carb recipes and trying them out, it's the first time in a *very* long time that I've been excited in trying out new recipes that might help lose weight.

I've been bored of all 'diets' for a long while, and it's kind of like a challenge to find nice recipes that don't involve carbs. I've been really enjoying it Smile

This is the website I like best btw:

The no/low carb recipes I've found are very high in fat, (which I understand is necessary if you're going No carb) but I'm still having carbs for lunch. So I'm not sure if I'm eating too much high fat stuff in order to lose weight.

Basically what I'm doing, is no carbs throughout the day, apart from a very small amount at lunchtimes. I'll have a slice of bread or a small cup of pasta or rice.

The reason I'm doing that for lunch, is because

1) I like bread rice and pasta and don't want to cut it out completely!
2) I'm viewing this as a longterm lifestyle change rather than a quick fix weightloss diet.
3) If I'm out for the day I can grab something to eat easily without worrying about trying to find something with no carbs.

I think I may be struggling with this as I've always followed an actual diet plan in order to lose weight. I set rules for myself and stuck to them.

I've never just stumbled along making it up as I go along, and I wonder if this will actually damage my plan to lose 50lbs.

I guess I'm mostly worried that I won't lose that much weight as I'm *almost* no carb, but still eating no carb recipes (which are very high in fat!). I think if I went no carb for a while I'd lose weight quicker.

Aaand that's even more confusing as I said I didn't want a quick fix and wanted a long term change in my diet LOL!

I think this blog resembles my mind at the moment as its a bit all over the place, I'm not exactly sure what I'm asking advice for.

Anyway. Sorry for the confusing blog!!! How is everyone else doing? Xxx

i'VE been waiting for you to post!!! I'm still low carbing it. Some days I no carb it. But the point is, here we are on another Tone Up Tuesday and I'm still doing great!!!! No sugar binges at all! I just had baked chicken thighs for lunch. I've had bacon and eggs. Yesterday was pork loin and hamburger and cheese no bun! I too feel so much better. And the bloat is GONE!!!!
I haven't gotten on the scale but I too would like to lose 50 and my clothes are fitting so much better after two weeks! I really think the key for me to keep it off is to always always always watch my carbs! I can't trigger my sugar addiction again.
I will be making this recipe!

HFLC is the one diet and the other which is currently in now is Banting compiled by Tim Noakes. That's where a dough pizza base for example is replaced with a cauliflower base. I have tried both. Banting is not for me. It certainly isn't for young kids/ toddlers either Smile

You can replace a normal potato with a sweet potato instead. Brown rice not white rice. No breads unless they are say pumpkin bread. Banting is very popular here and our shops cater to it as do our supermarkets.

Lastly Banting in the beginning you will get light headed and have headaches as your purged.

Wow it's like you're talking a different language lol! I've never heard of the acronym HFLC, or the Banting thing. Thankyou Mon, I have a lot to google now!

It's funny you said about the cauliflower pizza, that's next on my list of things to try from my "being a cauliflower ninja" I shared with NoWire! I really hope I like it :/

also I can't eat the low carb bread or the low carb candy bars or candy. It still triggers my addictions. For me I have found I need to stay away from those for now
