I'll probably get a lump of coal in my stocking for this...
This happened last Sunday but I haven’t had a chance to post about it, and since I’m still laughing about it, I think it’s still a good post!
A few weeks ago BM asked if she could have SS4 at 1:30 on Sunday because they are getting family pics taken (she usually gets him around 6pm). We told her that if she wants him at noon, she could take him then since DH works at noon anyway. She said that'd be fine!
At about 11:40 DH texted her to say that I was dropping him off at work, and could swing SS4 by her place after that. She wrote back “Won’t be home until 12:30.” So DH said “So are you going to come to our house and get him instead then or do you want SteppingUp to sit in your parking lot and wait for you?” (Yeah somewhat sarcastic but she never offers up a solution to anything). She said she'd come get him at 12:30.
We waited around and at 12:30 she texted me “I’ll be another 20 minutes or so.” We were waiting for her to get there so I could take my dog to the dog park, because it’s probably the last time we’d go there until spring. It was the last warm day we had…and by warm, I mean like 40 degrees. Warm for December. We were wearing hats and mittens and I had my BS all bundled up in blankets. So I texted BM that we’d be at the dog park, which is right by her apartment.
So me, BS, SS4 are at the dog park. Waiting and waiting for BM. I’m chatting with a couple about random stuff. I’m ready to get BS out of the cold but I’m not going to run around anymore with BM, so I keep waiting for her. Then I see BM pull up...at 1:20. (WHY would you say yes I’ll get him at noon if you have no intention of even trying to be close to that time?)
I tell SS his mom is here and I help him out the gates as she’s walking up. She’s wearing CAPRI leggings, and high heel SANDALS, and no jacket (and of course a hot pink shirt, she wears hot pink every day - not joking). She looks ridiculous, especially for the weather. It would have been a cute outfit if she were wearing boots or something weather-appropriate with it...anyway. But she can't dress her kids in weather-appropriate clothes, apparently because she herself doesn't understand it. She totters up through the grass in her heels, and of course says nothing. No “I’m sorry it took so long” or anything. Just gives her son a half-assed hug and starts walking away to her car. In her spandex pants. (Not that I don’t like leggings on some people but typically you wear a long shirt with them, right? Not BM! Then no one will be looking at her bum!)
I tell SS “Smile nice for your pictures!!” and BM just gives me a weird look.
So I walk back into the dog park and I can’t help but kind of snicker to myself at how weird she is and her outfit...and the couple I was chatting with, the guy looks at BM and looks at me and his wife and goes “Woof!” and the wife says in a pity-ing tone, “Yeah...she tries too hard, huh?” I just kind of laughed and sighed and said “Yup.”
Maybe I’ll get a lump of coal in my stocking for this, but seriously that made my day! Sure, BM can’t utter the words “I’m sorry” but she has no idea how many people see her and say “WOOF.” This is the 2nd time I've heard someone say "Woof" when they saw her, that doesn't know her.
Hahahah!
Oh, and guess what? Yesterday she posted on her FB about how she and the kids got their pics taken. Wait? Why did she want SS4 LAST Sunday for pics then if they weren't until yesterday? I asked DH about it and I guess she told him this past week that she didn’t want her pics taken that day bc she didn’t feel good and didn't want to look bad for them. So why wouldn’t she just mention that to me on Sunday??? Say “We rescheduled our pics, can you keep him until 1:30 like we originally planned?” Instead of making me wait around for 1hr 20 mins for her to pick him up? She’s so weird.

I would never have waited
I would never have waited that long. I'd wait about 15 minutes before I'd be telling my husband to tell her to come get him at my house. She wants him that bad, she can come and get him. I HATE when people think their time is more important than mine. It is one of my pet peeves.
Actually, you won't get a
Actually, you won't get a lump of coal at all. You waited for her.
I would have left and not told anyone until they contacted me to find out where I was. Then called them out on being late. I'm the same as above poster I give 15 minutes, then I'm gone.
The lump of coal was for
The lump of coal was for laughing at her But she deserved it.
And I agree, I should probably not have been so nice about it.
She's not weird-she's rude
She's not weird-she's rude and selfish. YOU are not important to her so she doesnt care whether you wait around or not. HER schedule is what is important to her. I have a bm like this.
Yep. The world revolves
Yep. The world revolves around BM and BM alone. She assumes we know what she's got going on at all times and doesn't have to have the slightest consideration for what we have happening.
I'm still having a hard time not shooting her an email about it, from DH, saying how inconsiderate it was of her that day to not even utter an apology. But like I just said, the world revolves around BM so she will not see that as "Oh shoot, I guess I didn't" she'll think - how dare they!
BM's like that don't know how
BM's like that don't know how to communicate to others and they think the world owes them. If it were her waiting for you she'd be all up in DH's ass for that one. I know because I've experienced that crap before. I had to laugh when you said your BM wears pink everyday. Our BM, soon to be 45, wears pink or white top, jeans, sneakers EVERY FREAK'IN DAY and her hair style hasn't changed since the 80's. She thinks she's beautiful but WOOF to her too!
By the way 2 years ago, BM took the skids out "shopping" for me for Christmas. They bought me coal with BM's help, backfired though, the court didn't find her behavior to be supportive of my relationship with her kids! }:)
Haha! Where does one find a
Haha! Where does one find a lump of coal these days?
And funny that your BM is a pinkaholic, too. Pink is no longer in my wardrobe...
