I am sooooooooooo glad this shit is O.V.E.R.!!!!!! SD18 is done with school (well going to college, but DH didn't buy her shit and won't either) and SS17 is starting his Sr. year. BM2 hasn't asked for any money YET, but I'm sure it's coming. DH will probably buy him a few things because he knows he'll never have to do it again!!!!!

We have a 6 year old, so right now school shopping is fun. He doesn't really need much and doesn't really EXPECT/feel entitled to anything like these bratty skids do, so it's not a nightmare like it was with skids.

DP said earlier this summer that there's no way he was going to do the back to school clothes shopping this year.

He provided school clothes for them the start of last year and for the summer and misc. things all year long like winter coats and shoes. He stated that BM gets child support so she needs to use it (we do make sure they have essentials like socks/underwear).

He's also getting on the SDs more about taking things to BMs and not bringing them back: case in point he bought SD10 a twelve-pack of new underwear in April. She has exactly 5 pairs in her drawer, all of them from an older pack. All of the new underwear (and socks, but I didn't tell DP about that yet) are vanished. If they go out of our house and don't come back, it's their problem. No sweaters at our house? Well, are they at BM's? Then bring them back next time and go put on another t-shirt because we won't turn up the heat for you.

And about school shopping; some places in the country acually turn into fall very rapidly. Kids grow over the summer. It's not unlikely that clothes the kids got the prior fall/winter no longer fit and thus new clothes are needed (I know SD12 really needs things this fall). Shopping for 2 kids, one basically into teen sizes, even basics like sweaters/coats is expensive even if going to discount stores.

This also includes lunch bags (I don't know why they can't just use paper bags but that's just me), tupperware items for those lost or worn out over the last year, general school needs after the class list is published, etc.
