SD embellishes all the time!!!
I took my niece(7) to see the new Cinderella this weekend, just released over the weekend. SD7 returned to our home today and we saw my niece. My niece mentioned that we went to see the new movie and SD replies in a snotty tone, "Well I already saw it three times too". I am sure BM took her to see it, but doubt it was three times. My SD does this all the time, someone will say something and she has to lie and exaggerate. It's always "Well I did THIS...blah blah". Why can't she just so "Oh cool, I saw it too". Does anyone else have kids or skids that act this way? How do you change this rude behavior? This is one of my pet peves in all people.

They all brag like hell, at that age; if she hadn't watched it, she would start complaining in her best baby voice that she would "oh so loooooooooove to go" and "oh, if someone would take poor me"...
Really not sure how to handle it; I either ignore it or comment that I (in this case) have watched the movie 5 times.

Because she is self absorbed. It is all about her. It is a not so nice trait in kids these days. I would ask her why she saw it 3 times. Didn't she understand the story? Like seeing it 3 times is REALLY necessary?
My SS16 tells bizarre lies
My SS16 tells bizarre lies like that as well. If we say that we happened to watch something without him, and then my son will ask "did you see it yet?" SS16 will say something like "oh yeah I saw the beginning" or his mom/sister said it was stupid.
The most recent case of this lying surfaced when my son asked SS16 if he has been watching Game of Thrones. Me, my husband, and my son have been diehard fans and have watched every moment. SS16 says "Yeah, I watched up to the part where there was the big ice wall." SMH. GoT fans will know why that's about the stupidest thing you could say to prove you watch the show. It's featured in nearly every episode.

Oh yes,sd8 does this all the time. She is so bratty in general,so jealous of others. I ignore her when she gets snotty,which is often. Of course dh thinks that she can do no wrong. He has created a monster. Can't wait to watch the teenage years. Dh will see what he has done then

I hope SD grows out of this! But BM is so materialistic and compares everything under the sun so I'm sure that's where it's coming from. I too wish my niece could say that. If I hear it more from SD I may just put her in time out for lying right away.
