Top notch work BM on your house keeping skills... Not!
I haven't been in her house since I was naive enough to let her into my house but I have imagined many times in my head what it must look like, a pig sty comes to mind.
The kids always smell funny when they come over (50/50 EOW custody), like strong air freshener and dog, and look as though they haven't showered days. We don't say anything just toss all their clothes in bags for when we take them back and shove then into the shower even when they claim they had one that morning.
But this past Sunday BM dropped them off with some new boots still in the boxes. DH didn't think about it he just a set then down and we went about our evening, when he went back to them he jump back, totally freaked out. He said there was cat puke on the floor by where he put the boxes. We have 3 cats and yes puke/hair balls so I got a paper towel and went over to it. It wasn't puke, it was the top half of a half eaten strawberry, extra ripe at this point. We haven't had strawberries in our house since late last summer an I always cut the tops off and prepare them. It must have been stuck to the outside of one f the boxes and have come from her house or car. Gross!
She lets the kids eat where ever and I know they are super messy eaters which is why they aren't allowed to eat anywhere but the kitchen table at our house. And since she still does everything for them I am sure they just toss stuff where ever and think BM will get it later.
Now I am picturing the pig sty with all sorts of rotten food every where. I clean houses on the side for cash but I don't think you could pay me enough to clean that woman's house, not that I would any way.
DH was so grossed out that he wondered if we should call CPS and tell them house may be unfit. He has calmed down since then but we are keeping an eye on her.

The house we currently live
The house we currently live in DH had shared with BM and though she had been gone for a year when I moved in I could tell that she hadn't been a very good house keeper. The carpets were so full of that carpet power that when I cleaned them it looked like milk coming out of it. I found candy and crayon every where. Ironically she is super anal about appearances so everything is usually picked up, it just when you look closer and start pulling stuff out... That you find things.
Any way like you I feel as though we have to retain the kids every time we get them. They know where the clothes hamper, trash can, toy box and kitchen sink are all located. It not hard to pick up after yourself.
