There's Hope

I haven't posted a blog here since last Thursday, but so many good things have transpired over the weekend for me & my family.

DH came to the house Friday nite to give me $$$ for bills & mortgage & ATTEMPTED to engage in arguing w/me but it didn't work because I just wouldn't engage. So he ranted & raved that he didn't want to even be in our house anymore, as he brewed a pot of coffee & went upstairs to put his clothes away, meanwhile I sat in the rocking chair, listening to what his mouth was saying but watching what his actions were. He kept saying that he was leaving & so I was waiting for him to leave, but that is not what was happening. Finally, I asked him if he forgave his father for being an alcoholic & not being there all his life, he said yes. I asked him if he felt that his father ever tried to make amends for not being there, he said no but he forgave him anyway. I then proceeded to tell him that his daughter will choose to forgive him becuz she chooses to & that in her case, there is nothing he can do to make amends to her, as she is alredy living a grown-up life. I told him he needs to let her go. He shut up...dead silence, sat down on the couch next to me & said not another word.

so afterwards, he went to a meeting, I called my sponsor & talked to her for about an hour. She's a really awesome lady who shares my exact same story in dealing w/the SD & a husband w/13 years sobriety. She gave me & the girls a homework assignment... pray for DH & SD everyday for the next 2 weeks.

DH came home after his meeting w/ a new attitude. Thank you God!

Saturday morning, I went to my women's bible study & guess what the study was on...Hebrews 12- God's Discipline. Earlier this week, someone sent me a devotional on Hebrews 12. Boy, when God speaks He makes it loud & clear! After women's bible study, i came home & hung out w/DH for a while, got ready to go to the family reunion, just me & my girls, as there is still some tension between them & DH, something THEY (the girls) are already over, now it's just him & his pride, but it's ok.

He went to another meeting & to church while me & the girls went to the family reunion. I had an awesome time w/my grandma & all my relatives.

Sunday morning, me, DH & my girls were all in church together. DH wasn't going to go at first but I told him that it was a shame that we couldn't lay ourselves aside for a moment & that we couldn't sit underneath the roof of God's house together, but that it was ok & suggested he pray about it. Me & the girls left for church, & prayed for DH & SD on the way, like sponsor said to.

Half-way through the worship I saw my DH walk in. I could see him from the stage as I led worship. It was a blessing! Not only that but the church was so full on Sunday, the Pastor had to add two more rows of seating to accomodate all the people who showed up. We also got news that we acquired our own building this past week & will be moving to a permanent facility next month.

The worship was really awesome this past Sunday and I was surprized because the team was unable to meet at all for rehearsal this past week, we all had so many things going on in our personal lives this past week.

After church on Sunday, DH & I went home, my girls went to a basketball team party w/some friends of ours from church. DH & I went swimming, grocery shopping together, then we came home & watched "Madea goes to Jail".

I don't know if any of you have seen any of the "Madea" movies, but they are not only comical, there is always a message in the Madea movies. Tyler Perry has found a comical way of bringing some serious issues to the screen while sending a message of hope. Last weekend I watched "Madea's Family Reunion." I was surprized at both of these movies. I had an idea of what I THOUGHT they were going to be like. I really thought they were going to be senseless & vulgar, w/a lot of foul language, becuz that is what is popular these days. Not so.

SD still has not come home,it's been a month since she's been at our house. I don't know when or if that will be happening. I'm hoping that my husband will see that he really needs to let her go to live her life like an adult & stop allowing her to use the revolving-door system at our house. He either needs to let her go and LIVE LIKE an ADULT or enforce rules & discipline at our house. We have counseling tonite, so we'll see how it goes.

That is so awesome honey!!! I just want to say kudos for stopping him in his tracks by being calm and rational while he was running around your house ranting.
I am sorry that it sounds like he's losing his daughter. Hopefully she can get her act together soon. You definitely shouldn't have a revolving door in your home. BUT with that said, I have a feeling that if my stepdaughter or my son were to fall on their face in the adult world I'd be there to scoop them up and get them back on their feet but i'm sure I'd have a limit of 2scoop ups per customer/child Wink

DH is home & I'm just trying to take it all one day at a time, or more like one MOMENT at a time. I don't know what is going to happen w/SD. But everyone in my family is praying that either my husband can set down the rules of the house or that God just does not allow her to come back to our house. My mom is praying, my kids are praying, I'm praying, my church is praying. Not to be mean, but a house divided cannot stand! As long as SD is able to live like an adult in our house, it will be divided.
