Father's Day....Adult stepdaughter
I hate my stepdaughters....is that bad? I have one 22 and one 18. They say all of this crap about being Christian and wonderful people, and they don't drink and they don't swear and we are going to hell because we don't go to their denomination and we drink (even though their mother's side of the family do the same thing and that's ok...and both are dating guys that don't even go to church!). This past mother's day, they got their BM tickets for her and the 22 yo to go to a concert. They aren't doing anything for my husband for father's day. The 18 year old has to come eat with us because of the court order, but that's all. The 22 yo acted like she didn't even know it was father's day. I hate that they keep hurting him over and over again and he takes it! I don't have kids so maybe I don't understand. But I would NEVER let a child speak to me the way they speak to him and treat him the way they do. But he still pays for stuff and wants to do stuf for them. I'm ready to tell them both off. We'll see what happens on Sunday, but if the 22 yo doesn't show up, I'm going to tell her she is getting off of our cell phone plan and will pay for her own insurance starting Monday. I've had it. Am I crazy - am I wrong? Are you supposed to just let them treat you like sh*t and keep being nice? I understand you love them, but shouldn't you teach them the proper way to behave? You guys are great around here and I just needed to vent. My poor husband was so sad.

Yup... eff that!
Yup... eff that!
No 22 yr old should be on
No 22 yr old should be on your cel plan OR your insurance.
Take her off and leave DH outta it. I did that to my SD who is 19.
And no...it's not bad that you hate them. They do terrible things and only use you two for material items.
Tell them off...they sound spoiled and bratty...and YOU will feel so much better.
Well I have a bit of a
Well I have a bit of a different angle on this. I have a daughter, 22, who is pretty inconsiderate. She just spent Mother's Day in another state with her dad and stepmom. I haven't seen her for Mother's Day in 5 years. My ex (her dad) cheated on me and I don't have much respect for my daughter's stepmom - but being a stepmom myself I don't want to be a hypocrite and so I say nothing.
I think kids can just be inconsiderate and self-centered. It seems like people take about 10 years longer to grow up these days. Maybe when these "kids" are in their thirties they will be a little more considerate?
I don't agree with paying for things and giving them stuff so that they will spend time with you. I refuse to do it. I have a very good friend who is an awesome mother and she DOES give her son money and stuff and she gets the same treatment from her 26 year old son who she helps out a lot as I get from my 22 year old daughter who pays her own bills.
As much as I dislike being a stepmom and as much as I can't stand the way ss16 treats DH, I can't say that my own daughter behaves much better:( It's depressing:(
