I'm so glad to be back on here! The past year and a half has been absolutely INSANE. DH and I got married in January of 2012. The day after he was in a pretty bad car accident, on his way to our rehearsal dinner. We still got married the next day! Months of physical therapy and a surgery later, he's back to work a couple of days a week. On top of that, his Grandfather had major surgery for cancer, and stayed with us while he recovered. It was so great to have him stay with us, SD got to spend a lot of time with her Great-Grandpa, and since I've never had a Grandpa it was so awesome to get closer to him. But good grief - busy, busy busy!

The biggest thing that's happened in our family - my DH won custody of his little girl last summer! So now I'm a FULL TIME step-mom. I'm so happy she is with us and away from psycho BM, and it still brings me to tears every time I think about the day we got the news that she'd be with us, but again - busy, busy, busy!

I was actually a little surprised that DH won custody - I knew he SHOULD get custody, BM is definitely not a good mom, but the right thing isn't always what happens. Plus it's not exactly common for a Dad to get custody, especially in our area. The evidence against her was too strong for the judge to deny the neglect and the mental instability of BM. Photos of filth, infected ear piercings, dirty, broken and jagged fingernails - at one point her cuticle was so infected puss shot across the room when it was lanced. Add to that BM posting on Facebook that she wanted to poison Thanksgiving dinner, duct-tape the kids to their beds (she has another daughter that isn't DH's), and one where she is telling her sister to jam a crochet hook up SD's nose and pull her brains out like the ancient Egyptians did during the mummification process. Seriously, she posted all of this - and so much more - on her PUBLIC Facebook and Twitter profiles. Not only is she crazy, she's an idiot.

So that's just a little background on what SD's BM is like. That certainly isn't all of it, but that's a good start. The saga continues when I get another free minute!
