skids names

Out.Of.Love.'s picture

This is a spinoff of the BM name blog. Do you hate saying your skids names? I know its nearly impossible to not say them. i wish i had more than one skid (okay taht's not true at all) just so I could say 'his kids' or "are your kids coming?" it sounds very rude to say "is your kid coming?" so i have to say her name. but i hate her name!! I hate saying it and I hate hearing it. thoughts?

I hate when we are watching a movie and her name is in it! Thats the worst!! She lives with us so I guess I am used to saying it and hearing it all day long. I don't like it but just used to it now.

I refer to DH's son as skid mark on here after learning the abbreviation skid stood for stepkid. I added mark because he craps himself nonstop, so, skid mark fits him quite well. I don't call him that in real life, wish I could, but I don't. I don't say his name. I use "he" as much as possible, but I just try to not talk about him at all and when he is here I am disengaged and do not associate with him or DH anymore than absolutely necessary. The actual sound of his name rolling off my tongue makes me ill. He has a very trendy common "name of the moment" name so I hear it a lot and that makes me ill and puts me in a bad mood as well.

Stepdevil14 has a very weird name. Even DH's grandma (who is 87, raised in Southern Texas and as sweet as pie but racist as Hell) said "Why on earth would you name her that - it's HORRIBLE and it's definitely NOT a "white" name!!!!!" BM was in charge of naming her I guess and she's into all sorts of numerology and black magic. Now, BM, DH and SD are all white as white can get ok? DH said if he had his choice, it would've been a more common name like Ashley or Jessica...

Anyhow, if you do a Facebook or google search with stepdevil's name, a bunch of skanky looking women come up. And of a different race too. It's quite funny actually. And as a wise attorney friend of mine once told me - this name will likely affect Stepdevil's ability to get a good job unless she has qualifications and major college degrees out the ass. Which will NOT happen...

But anyway, I don't call her by her name. I call her "your kid" to DH or stepdevil to anyone else.

I think you win the worst name contest!! I wouldn't say it out loud either!! lol

it's horrible isn't it? The people I trust to say it to them here all agree. Her name is HIDEOUS

I do HATE both skids names.. SD because has a cross-over name.. when i was growing up, everyone I knew with that name was a boy.. now it's commonly used as a girls name as well. SS has a name that, to me, reminds me of a baby. I know a few adult men with this name, and I still think it's a babyish name.. don't know why.. I just associate the name with being a big, whiny, CRYBABY, liar!! But I don't hear their actual names much.. everyone calls them sissy and bub.. which bugs the HECK out of me just as much as their names.. lol

I hate the skid's name too. Also BM's name and I loath the city they live in. Just because of BM and SD- no other reason. Funny thing is my best friend has the same nickname as SD (full names are different but the short common nickname is the same). I call my friend by her full first name because that short nickname is so ruined for me.

UGH, BM's name, it is not to be spoken in my home. We have several names for her and they all include bitch. I am so with you on hating their city for NO other reason except that is where they came from, that is where DH messed up and slept with her, that is where skid was born. I HATE going there and once upon a time, I like it, went to school there, thought it was a great place. NOT anymore.

SD8 has a beautiful African name.
SD5 has an old lady plain Jane name.

I have asked DF 100 times why he and crazy BM went with such opposites with their names.

SD15 has a cute and unique name.
SS21 has a common, plain Joe name.

BS21 has an African name.

i avoid saying sd's name as much as possible. i feel slimy all over just hearing someone else say it, much less saying it myself. her name is not unheard of, but it's not real common, so i don't hear it very often anywhere else. i only call her by her name when talking to fdh. with everyone else, it's fdh's kid or twat.

I also dont like to say ss's name. It is very common however and so I hear it constantly. I have never called him by the shortened version of his name, although my dh does on occassion. Never. Even when we he was young and things were sort of ok. It just seemed to imply a familiarity that I guess deep down inside I was not comfortable with.

i never liked sd calling me by the shortened version of my name. for the same reason you don't call ss by that. that is something that only family and close friends should be comfortable using. i can't fault her for it since fdh has called me that from day 1 and it rubbed off on his family. they all call me that. i know it doesn't mean anything. but it bugs me coming from her. she no longer does that. she calls me by my full name. i guess she's caught on that we are NOT friends!

hismineandours's picture

This too! i have a shortened nickname-which not alot of people call me-but dh does, my sil (my good sil!), my parents very occassionally. SS called me mom for years-but um just grew out of that i guess and one day started referring to me by my nickname. I hated it. I would rather him call me ma'am, or mrs. x, or whatever but not by my nickname! Fortuntely he no longer calls me anything-well to my face anyway-but even before he stopped communicating with us he had stopped calling me anything besides she or her and if talkign to my kids "your mom".

LOL - I call them the kids - I get what you are saying OP about there being two so I can get away with "are the kids coming tonight?" That was my first thought just from your heading - that I avoid it.

Their names also both start with B so I call them B1 and B2 - he thinks it's cute, I really mean Brat 1 and 2 but there's no need for him to know that right? Dirol

He also uses their names for his email address passwords etc and that pisses me off (I know that is unreasonable as my email and even my name here is a combination of my kids names) I just despise these 2 children so much that I hate it.

Ok I am a bitch but they drove me to it....

imjustthemaid's picture

Ugh my DH uses SD's name and birth year for his passwords. One day I told him that should have been a terrible day (I know I'm a bitch) and to please start using our BD's name and birth year since she was such a blessing!!

SS's name doesn't bother me. It's a biblical name but pretty normal. I don't know another soul with that name though.

I don't hate SS27. Most of the time I feel sorry for him because he is so pathetic.

hismineandours's picture

I also found I had a problem identifying him in pics that I posted on facebook and such. Not that I take a lot of pics of him-although I did when he was younger. Over the last 4 or 5 years the only photos of him are a few group shots and ones were he is in the edge of the photo in the background or something. In those photos, I dont ever name out all the kids, if he is in I simply caption it "kids". if he's not in the photo I will list out the kids individual names or label it something like my beautiful children!

My SS has a "paste-eater" name. You know a name that has too many vowels and it makes me think of the weird kids in my grade school that would, well, eat paste or other weird behaviors.

His momma named him, and then his 1/2 sister got a uber-trendy name that is spelled weird.

I wish I could say that this was the worst thing his momma did to him (and his sister) but alas, not the case.

funny how important a name really is.

LMAO! Biggrin

I know a Jewish family that named their first two children very common names like Jane and John but the next two they gave very Jewish Hebrew names that most people have never heard of. Like Mordecai and Moshe.

GhostWhoCooksDinner's picture

SS14 has a very plain, classic name. SS8's name is "trendeigh." These aren't their actual names, but it would be like naming your kids, say, John Michael and Skyyy Raynbeaux.

That said, they don't have terrible names, but I cringe when I hear either of them simply because they belong to the skids.

BM has a horrible, white-trash stripper name. It's even spelled trashy, if that makes any sense.

GhostWhoCooksDinner's picture

Will tomorrow-
Same here! Isn't it nauseating? BM here calls SS8 "pooh bear" or just "poo." Can you imagine when he's around other kids and she calls, "pooooh bear! Oh Pooooooooohhh?" No wonder the damn kid's got no friends!
