Our youngest son saw 3 yrs in the US Army as a legal resident of the USA. He is putting himself through college now and never asks us for anything. DH and I are so proud of him.

He has a project for school and wants to use Lego. He wants to buy a specific set and do time lapse photography and an explanation on how this involves 2 passions... engineering and Lego (hey it beats beer and girls!)

The set is $230. His father living in Australia just sold his house and made a tidy profit. Our son has seldom asked him for anything even when he was living with him except for a drawing board for high school and it was like blood from a stone. Ex hunted around for a 2nd hand one and procrastinated until our son was almost dropped form the class (I think this was why he decided it was time to live with us in the USA). My son called his Dad today and asked if he could contribute to the purchase. Even just $100. Ex said no. WTH! Not a cent because it is all tied up with the bank blah blah blah.. I call BS on it all. The exchange rate would be in his favour!

As YDS as never asked us for money before (unlike the others!) DH said we would give him money towards it. The boy even set up a Gofundme account in case he Dad wanted an easy way to contribute. Nope, just some lame remark. That fund will get a sizable donation come Friday.
