Credit where credit is due
SO's parents are in town this week. Last night, SO recounted a parenting story involving Ss16. SO must have asked SS to do some chores or something or step up his personal hygiene. Not sure.
So SS said, 'Fine, I'll just move back in with mom!'
SO replied 'okay, I'll help you start packing your bags.'
Dismayed SS:' that's not right!'
SO: yes, it's right, I called your bluff.
And the other day I heard SO yell to SS, who was griping about doing some chores, 'you can move out anytime now.'
When SO asked SS to stop playing Xbox, SS argued, gave some attitude. SO told him, "when you start paying your bills in your own place, that's when your time becomes your time. Until then, your time is my time."
I was scooping dog poop outside, and SS' grandma saw me and said, "SS was supposed to do that two hours ago! And I said, well, did he do it? Gma: no of course not you ought to know better than that.
So I'm glad gparents will be supervising SS all week. Plus, SS loves his gparents so it's all good.
Now a lot of SO's 'discipline' is in words only, not seen any consequences yet, but its something at least. For all the griping I do, thought I should give SO some credit. Now if SS had given me a bunch of attitude, he would have lost Xbox for the next weekend (he's only allowed to play on weekends).
