VENT!!!

I don't know if it's PMS or I am just a bitch. But SD13 is with us for the next 3 weeks because her mother checked into rehab for 30 days. So after our regular week we get her for 3 more!!! All in all its not too bad but SO is still paying outrageous CS and now we have SD for the full month. I have been to the grocery store twice already in one week. This kid never hardly eats and now she is eating everything in freaking sight. I buy apples my fave are honey crisp I bought 7 on saturday and they are all freaking gone!!!! She was gone herself all weekend so in two days she ate 7 apples??? Two large bags of chips all gone too. Usually this stuff lasts two weeks of her being home EOW. Well she takes her lunch every day now and not only does she pack herself a lunch she packs one for her best friend. This is aggravating me.

Her BM doesn't ever have any food in her house ever. The woman does not eat she is 43 years old!!! She is 5' and maybe weighs 80lbs so buying groceries, cooking dinner, having healthy meals isn't part of her lifestyle. SD eats at BM's friend house every day that she is with BM. So I don't know if this eating is SD's way of dealing with her mom being gone in rehab or if she is just in a growth spurt??? But my budget for groceries is doubled already and I have 3 more weeks of this child being here!!! Uggggg just needed to vent.

Well I would certainly stop her from making a lunch for someone else. That is crazy. Sounds like she has it pretty rough at her moms house...

I so wish you could show this post to every SM who bitches about CS being "too much."

This is normal for her age. They eat like horses, hit a growth spurt, slow down eating, and then right back up again.

Packing a lunch everyday does a number on the grocery supply, that's fo' sho'!

I would recommend things like tuna and crackers, or other protein snacks. They will last longer. Smile

I have 3 teens in my house (no CS, of course!) and things like fruits, salad, granola bars, crackers, and ice cream (!!!) disappear like they're being hunted by the FBI around here. ;P

YES!!! it is hell on the budget :O On top of all this she "needs" everything. Shoes, razors, shampoo, conditioner, sweatshirt, dentist appt, doctor appt, eye doctor appt, etc. etc. We provide all of this stuff for her anyway but its all hitting at the same time now and with 1700.00 leaving our bank account every month to pay BM her CS it is tough!!!

I know SD expects us to do all this for her because her BM doesn't do crap for her. But it is killing our budget if she stays with us primarily we are going to have to change CS!!

My SD16 eats an obscene amount of food. I understand the growth spurt but one day she will start growing the wrong way if you know what I mean. She eats enough to feed two adults!! Its disgusting!! I hide the food and put out a little at a time.

Nows a good time to take Bm back to court. The eating is probably from her hoarding while she can. Kids don't know their doing it but I've seen that in kids that don't get enough to eat every day. Its sad. I'm sure her friend may not get enough to eat either. Take it as a blessing that sd can think of others and do something nice like take them something to eat. I know it may be stressful to have sd longer than your use too. But theres no telling what she has to put up with at her BMs. So just know that for the next month you and DH are doing a good thing. Find the postive in it all. (I have to do that because our BM has been to rehab 2 times and prison once and in there now again. Lucky for ss he doesn't have to live with her any more.)

Sounds like she is not used to have food around her and therefore eats more than normal. But then, all or kids eat sooo much , too. What you need to do is to tell her what is available all the time and what is available only at special time.EG my kids know they can eat apples and bananas as snacks whenever they like and as well , provided it is not too close to meal time, some whole meal toast with some spread. For chocolate etc they need to ask and it is limited.
