Sad for SSs
After DH's divorce six years ago, BM moved to a different town 17 miles away so that she could "start over", "get healthy" (lol) and the real truth- so she could be closer to her work. SSs10 have settled in to school in their town really well- made friends, do well in school, participate in extra-curriculars. Of course at first BM pissed all over the boundaries of the school- over the years we've done little things to be involved, like signing up to send in frosting to a holiday cookie decorating party, being mystery readers, DH attended a couple of PTSO meetings, we've attended some dinners with the whole family, etc....etc....and none of these events has gone without some sort of nasty comment from BM, as some of you can clearly imagine. Whatever- now we just let it roll off.
Sadly, however, as these kids get older, they are wanting to be involved in more activities, and they're seeing the true divide between households thanks to her nasty behavior and selfish choices. One twin tried to set up a meeting with a friend to work on their science fair project. The call he made from our phone? Friend's mom returned the call...to BM's phone. We called back after receiving message from BM and it turns out that the kid's parents couldn't find the time from their busy weekend with three kids (tell us about it- we have five!) to drive all the way down here (tell us about it- DH drives it several times a week to get them to or from school and to their activities!). In the meantime, DS10 and DD9 go to activities and get-togethers without incident because of our proximity to and our relationship with their dad. It will be even crazier schedule-wise once DS2 is older and participating in activities.
It's just sad.
