Advice please - is there a way to get CPS to come out and check out our home?

Seems that BM is going to try and go for full custody. She got 3 other kids besides my SS with different fathers and she's living in a state housing program and the state is paying for their daycare etc... and she's got a min paying job. What the hell is she thinking. Before we got SS he was just starting 2nd grade and couldn't even read or do just basic addition and was one angry boy.

Anyway she's now spouting that our house isn't good for him and since he doesn't go to daycare anymore and stays home after school that she now wants full custody (I'm sure it's more about the CS that she wants). SS is in 10 years old and we live 2 blocks from school, being alone for a total of 2 hours before my DH gets home from school isn't a big deal, SS has his cell phone, the dogs are home and if anything happens DH is about 20 minutes away and the neighbors across the street are home all day (retired).

Is there a way for us to get CPS to visit and do a check of our place so we can have something on file when we go to court?

Have you checked the laws for your state on what age a child is allowed to stay home alone? Our state a child cannot be home alone until he/she is 12 years old. I would make sure a 10 year old is allowed to for your state.

before we let SS stay home after school. We called CPS and WA doesn't have an age limit other than that the kids have to be capable and mature enough as well as there has to be an emergency plan in place, such as a a phone etc...

He's mature enough to stay home for a short period of time and honestly I can't see us payin $200/week for daycare so that he's there for only 2 hours a day.
