Its beginning to look a lot like skid-stress-mas...

As if it isn't enough that the stepspawn has caused me such agony over the time he lived with us... DH wants him to come visit for Christmas. Of course, now that stepspawn has signed up for the Navy it is DH's 'last Christmas' with it. Cry me a river. I don't care, completely disengaged. I told DH that I will 1) not cook, clean or care for stepspawn in any way, shape or form. 2) my home will continue to run as usual, if stepspawn makes a mess then DH or stepspawn will clean it. 3) I will not interact with stepspawn in any way, shape or form. I refuse until I receive some apology or acknowledgment of its past behaviors. 4) I am carrying on with my holiday. I am doing my usual Christmas with my relatives as I always have and stepspawn is not welcome. My family hates it almost as much as I do. Nothing like a diagnosis of PTSD from dealing with a skid and BM to stalemate the blending process.

Stepspawn 17 lives with its BM about 5 hours away... and with my refusal comes DH trying to figure out how to get it over to us for the holiday all by his inept lonesome. We both have very busy work schedules and on top of that, well, I say go frack yourself, DH. So what does DH do? He tries to get MIL to do transport. Like, not only do transport but like 'Biowhore, call my mom and work it out.' A$$. MIL does the daycare for our DDs 3 and 1. Now she is supposed to do transport for stepspawn because DH 'will be heartbroken' if he doesn't get it for Christmas?? DH even said MIL can take DD's with her to do transport. You mean drive 6 hours round trip with a 3yr old and 1yr old strapped in car seats. F to the N-O... DH. You know what, I am going to refer to him as Idiot Husband from here on out.

So I re-engage. Can spawn drive himself, he is 17 and of legal license holding age? Nope. Failed his road test who knows how many times in the last 6 months since his birthday. Can spawn take a bus or train, I will print itinerary and maps with instructions? Nope. Spawn isn't 'street smart' according to IH. I just can't with them. I called MIL and told her 'dont let him put this on you', she is already stressed to the max. You want your demon here for the holiday IH? Figure it out. Stop dumping on everyone else because you, BM and stepspawn are incapable. I am out. Be 'heartbroken' its on you.

I say 3 hours... give or take. 3 hours is a long time to be away from your Playstaion with no one to bring you refreshments.

Jokes on him, in most cases they don't let you leave boot camp. Second you hit that you're on contract. On contract doesn't leave a lot of ways out, he'll just get the "that sucks, suck it up."

Wait, what? Almost a MAN and cannot take a train, bus, or drive? But an older lady is supposed to do it, with two very young kids to boot??

What the hell happened to people last 30 years since I was 17? And why aren't all people involved embarrassed about it?

We went to a foreign country by ourselves and figured it all out.

I feel for you

I am barely involved in this nonsense and I am embarassed FOR them. I guess IH is concerned that it involves a stop and transfer in NYC.... whoooooo. At 15 I went into the city alone and at 16 I lived in Manhattan with friends. I hope the Navy has a hand holding program in basic training.

Taking the bus or train is a perfect idea. I really don't understand the push back on that.

I thought it the perfect solution... right down to printing a black and white map and making a red dotted line showing it where it needs to walk. Push back is right, IH just poopooed the idea of plopping his speshul snowfake all alone on a big, scary choo choo.

I took a greyhound bus when I was 12, all on my lonesome, from Ottawa to Sudbury and then back.... about 6 1/2 * 7 hours each way when yu count the rest break.

Before SS32 met the current woman he is sponging off of - he camped out in drug dens and walked to menial under the table jobs. Part of his excuse for not getting a better job was that he had no transportation.

Back in my naive days I wanted to help him better himself and suggested that we get him a bus pass. Our city has fairly decent public transportation. I used it myself from age 10 on.

DH said SS - probably 26 or 27 at the time wouldn't have a clue how to ride a bus. Yeah - that's sort of like brain surgery. Takes a lot to ride a bus.
