Something for me: I joined Weight Watchers
Something Princess said Friday night really got to me... it made me realize I spend too much time doing things for others, which is pointless, since obviously it goes unappreciated. As I got ready for bed, I saw a Weight Watchers commercial, advertising a $1 joining fee. I thought to myself, I could do that...
It kinda slipped my mind until Saturday afternoon. There was a show on E! channel about stars and their weight loss. The segment about Valerie Bertinelli hit me. When she started her weight loss, she weighed exactly what I weigh now- and she's four inches taller than me. She looked so big in her before picture, and I realized I must look like that too!
I immediately got online and signed up! Sadly, the only meetings in our area are the same time and nights as another family committment, so I signed up for online support. It's been only 4 days, but I am faithfully tracking what I eat. This first week, I'm not making a lot of diet changes, just so I can see where I'm starting from- what are my pitfalls and weaknesses.
I've set a mini-goal of losing 10 pounds. I know I need some new clothes to go back to work, so when I hit my goal, I've promised myself a new pair of pants. Then I'll set a new goal and a new reward.
This is for me. No one else- well, okay. Maybe it helps Gibby. With the skids schedules being crazy since they are so much older, Gibby and I eat on our own a lot. At 9, he is already 20 pounds overweight for his age group. If I eat better, he eats better. We both win.
This is for me.
And it's about damn time I did something just for me.
