BM never ceases to amaze me!
SD15 started drivers ed 2 weeks ago...and no, I'm not happy about it. DH told BM a month ago that she would be responsible for half of the $250.00 registration fee. (BM has not contributed to Sd15 since she was placed with us by court order 5 1/2 years ago) BM's reply was par for the course, IF she decides to help she wants sd15 every weekend. So, DH throws his hands up and shoves his head back in the sand!! I flipped! I told DH that she's batshit crazy! No judge is going to force a 15 yo to have overnight visits with a parent that they were removed from due to abuse and neglect!! Come on! Seriously! My DH is an intelligent and competent man until it comes to this catastrophic trainwreck.. So what I see is we're footing the whole bill so sd15 can scare the sh*t out of ppl walking down the sidewalks as her Disney dad gave her the keys to a 3,000 pound death machine. Maybe I should put out a PSA in the local newspaper to protect the public...

I understand the frustration
I understand the frustration but the kid will need to learn to drive sooner or later if you want her to be a functioning adult who can move out of your house. Go easy on the registration fee. Clearly BM isn't going to give you guys the money. You can either take her to court or not but SD needs the class either way. DH can keep this on record if he wants to somehow use it later to show how she is not providing for the child.
It's not a requirement for a
It's not a requirement for a teen to drive, and unless her not having a license is a hardship for your DH, I'd make her wait. The class isn't required once they turn 18 (at least here in CA, not sure if that's true everywhere else). If she's going to be a menace on the road, waiting until she matures is probably a good idea. And if she isn't going to chip in for her own car expenses and that is gong to fall solely on DH or you, I say again, make her wait. Driving as a teen is a privilege, not a right.
If he put her in driving
If he put her in driving school he should pay for it. Thankfully bm quit asking is to pay for crap when she got tired of hearing no, every single time!
