Yesterday we went to MIL's house for dinner and our 4 year-old niece was there, who climbs all over SD and bosses her around and gets pouty if SD doesn't spend every second with her. I love this, since 1) SD is occupied the whole time so she doesn't try to horn in on the adult conversations the way she usually does, and 2) Whenever SD gets annoyed at her cousin, MIL and DH don't hesitate to remind her that she is EXACTLY THE SAME way with us, and how she feels about her cousin is how we all feel about her!! Shuts SD right up and then she actively tries to prove how un-clingy and independent she can be. Great for us! Then to top it all off, she asked to sleep over at MIL's!

There was a small incident of her going on and on about how she kept the cake decorations from her b-day cake last year because her daddy gave it to her and so she will cherish those fake plastic flowers forever because they were from daddy (she said "daddy" like a million times)...and then MIL said "Oh, the cake with the flowers? I got that for you, not your dad." Hahahaha....wonder if she's still going to keep the flowers...Also, the whole time she was in a different room from DH with just me, MIL and her cousin, she was using her normal voice (finally!), but when she was saying goodbye to us, out came the baby voice to DH again, and the insecure posture, and the tiptoing around daintily...blech!

Even though she still found time to annoy me, this is pretty much as good of a weekend with her as it gets. Yay?
