Am I being petty? I am annoyed either way!!
So SS13 has an Iphone and an Ipod touch. BM gave him the Ipod and then DH gave him his old Iphone. Each of these came with their own charger that can be used on either one.
I go to plug in my Iphone at night only to discover my charger is missing. I ask DH and he says oh I think SS has it. WTF? I go get it. This continues to happen on and off over the week until it is finally gone every night!
I tell SS to leave my charger alone and he says "well my phone is dead so I need it" and I ask him where his is and he says he left it at his mom's. I tell him he has two chargers but of course he lost the other one! I let him borrow mine again for 30 min and tell him he must return it and ask for permission before he takes it again.
Last night same damn thing my charger is gone!! WTF? Nothing I say matters to this kid! I march in his room and take it and tell him now he does not have permission to borrow mine, use it, or take it! I know its just a charger but it pisses me off because he doesn't respect what I say!
Tonight my guess is that the charger will be gone again! I'd like to take something of his over and over just to get my message across! Any suggestions as to what I should take?

Yes. Lock it up.
Yes. Lock it up.
"Be a hardass"....there lies
"Be a hardass"....there lies the problem in my household! I am too freaking nice!!
I would think telling him NO would be enough but I am wrong. I don't want to hide my crap but I guess I have to!
I was just sitting here at
I was just sitting here at working thinking that I will go home for lunch and hide my charger! I am the only one getting worked up in this situation. I will let SS get worked up about his dead phone instead!!
I don't want to live this way
I don't want to live this way but you are right! He takes anything and everything he wants because he can!! Just the other day when I hid my charger he took DH's laptop and had it hanging from his bed just so he could use it to charge his phone. I would have thought DH would have blown a gasket but nope all he did was take it out of there and didn't say a word! :?
SS is the only one who uses the main bath and if he thinks for a second someone used his shampoo he throws a fit!! (which he only uses once a week or so if were lucky) And he is always accusing someone of going through his room and taking things! Ha! Probably because that is what he does to us when no one is watching!
I'd tell him NO. No he can't
I'd tell him NO. No he can't use it if he has a charger he needs to bring it and make sure he doesn't lose it. If his phone is dead big deal he'll learn to take care of HIS charger. This is one thing that really used to annoy me about my youngest SS he felt anything in my house was fair game for him to take, use and lose. If he takes your charger after you have told him NO take your charger back and HIS phone for a while so he learns what it's like to have people take your stuff, its called stealing btw and I can't stand a theif.
This is also my advice. If he
This is also my advice. If he has nothing to charge he won't take your charger.
To make it a little more fun, you could write a ransom note.
Don't let him use it. When
Don't let him use it. When his iPod is dead it's dead til he goes back to his moms. It's the only way he'll remember the charger next time.
Dh and I both have iPhones ans my DS11 has an iPod touch. We have a charger that stays plugged into the kitchen counter outlet and does not get moved. Period. There's no reason they need
to be charging anything outside the kitchen.
I agree with Maux 100%. A few
I agree with Maux 100%. A few months ago I would have played this game too. I know; I know; once you tell them something - you THINK they would just do it (my bios would) but NO more. New year - new leaf. I also would have been "afraid" of what daddy would do if I did this to princess but now F* it.......
Take something; take the damn thing and put it where he can't get it. Keep doing it; I know two wrongs don't make a right. I am not trying to sound "childish" but sometimes It takes lessons in order for them to see that what they are doing is rude, disrespectful and just plain selfish....
Keep us posted on this one; You could make it kind of amusing.......LOL
That was my thinking "two
That was my thinking "two wrongs don't make a right" but nothing else gets in his head!! I know my DH views my behavior as childish but I don't care! The kid needs to learn right from wrong!
I wish there was something I could take to teach him a lesson. He no longer uses his IPOD because he now has the IPHONE. Maybe I'll just take random things to get my point across!! haha
I would either 1- take his
I would either 1- take his iPod/iPhone away next time he takes iyour charges. He won't need a charger if he has no phone. Or 2- hide the stupid charger!! Why play games with a kid??? If he asks for it, lie and say you don't know where it is since HE used it last. Or be honest and tell him he can't use it and you put it away. He needs to learn to be more responsible. When my ss forgets his charger, oh well. Dh tells him he should've brought it.
i like that!
i like that!
Now this is funny!! I now
Now this is funny!! I now have a rule that rooms must be cleaned by 12:00 every Saturday to my satisfaction not the kids or DH's! This past weekend I found a hamper full of clean clothes with dirty on top of and trash on floor etc. I emptied the basket on his bed and topped it with all trash I found. I never heard a single word but it was all put away when I went back later!!
Sometimes being immature gets the point across!!
this is a good idea.
