Didn't take long...

Nope! Just as I knew this would happen... miserable SD17 is already moping around the house and whining about how bored she is. It's been THREE days. Really only 2 that she had been home doing nothing.

I'm not in the door from work yesterday for 15 damn minutes and she comes out of her lair with her blankey wrapped tightly around her and hair all a mess with that miserable look on her face that makes my stomach turn in an instant...and plops herself on the couch next to my husband. Immediately starts her complaining about how schools going to be closed longer than 2 weeks and she won't get to play spring sports and blah blah blah. Don't get me wrong- I feel terrible for all the students and athletes missing out on their Senior years and last chances to play with their teams! But it's like she's the only person in the world being affected by the current situation. I just left the room- like nope! I've been at work all day stressed the F out- not engaging in this! Thank God she left "for a drive"... I'm sure she went to mommy's house for better sympathy as my husband doesn't really engage in it much either.

What ticks me off further is that she could care less about anyone but herself- I know- probably typical for a teenager. Her father is a Financial Advisor and right now this crazy market is making his job extremely stressful! Does she ever ask if he's doing OK- HELL NO! Has she mentioned that it sucks or she's sorry we had to cancel our vacation next week that we planned a year ago?? Also, HELL NO! Neither of those things impact her. It's ALLLLLL about Miss Sunshine!

I told my husband I don't care... after ten more days of her in the house I don't care what she says- she is going back to her mother's NO question about it. I've already had enough! I'll apologize to you all in advance as I'm sure I'm going to be venting on here a lot in the coming days!!

SS17 doesn't have school this week and probably a few more to come.  His work experience is at the library so I'd imagine that will shut soon too.  This is status quo for SS17 though, he's not bothered one bit.  He's in his room on his screens like usual.  Thankfully he's not parked up our butts some skids will be, though.  I feel for you OP.

LOL- I had those exact thoughts! I bet if the suggestion was made to help with housework it would shut her up real quick! Maybe she should spend some time trying to not look so disheveled and miserable and perhaps expand her wardrobe past blankies and sweatpants! Nice to know I'm not the only one having to observe this annoying attention-hungry behavior!
