My MIL went to the school last week and complained to the principal about the SDs having head lice and being dirty all the time. She also told the school about the living conditions at BM's house. The SDs had told her some alarming facts during their visit the past weekend (head lice, broken out windows, a raccoon that was running through BM's house, lead in the water, and some issues with BM disappearing for hours at a time). Also, they have both now missed over 20 days of school The school told her that they had previously filed a complaint with Child Protective Services. However, they called and talked to them again while MIL was there. Because of these complaints (especially the broken windows and wild animals), CPS made a visit to the school and talked to the SDs and BM's other kids. One of the kids told CPS something and they have now started trying to track BM down. Unfortunately, it was one of her other kids that told them about the issues, so they can't discuss it with us. She is hiding out. On Monday, they are taking the police to her house if she doesn't answer the door. Apparently, they can enter without her permission after so many days.

I am not sure how to feel about this. I am glad something is being done, finally! However, BM is now hiding with the kids. She has violated the CO and not allowed DH to talk to the SDs in almost a week. She has started threatening my MIL. And, she says she is going to kidnap the kids!!! My DH and I have lived in a fog this past weekend, waiting for news. My DH can't relax at all. We are extremely worried about the kids. To be fair, CPS has kept us updated. They are really trying to find her. Until they do, we have no idea how the girls are doing. I don't even know what to think. I just needed to write this out. It seems so surreal to me.
