OT - Kind of freaking out
I just turned 29. I've almost been married a year and I have 4 skids (SD16, SD13, SS6, and SS5) who I have a great relationship with. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer at 38 (very young) and she and BOTH of my grandmothers are survivors. I had the genetic test done at 25 and I am BRCA positive, meaning I have an 87% chance of breast cancer and a 63% chance of Ovarian cancer. Yayyyy...... Because of this, I am checked twice a year; MRI in the summer and Tomo-Mammogram in the winter. This is easy-peasy and I always get the all clear. My last mammogram was around Christmas and everything was fine.
I had me MRI yesterday and my doctor called last night....they found something. It is not quite a mass/lump, but it is a "magnetic field" or something. I have to go in for a mammogram and an ultrasound and they will do an MRI guided biopsy. MRIs do have false positives, but my doctor wasn't very encouraging that that would be the case, especially with my history.
I was very upset last night. DH was wonderfully supportive. I'm only 29, and still feel like a kid. I'm not ready for this. I haven't had any kids. We just put an offer in on a new house. I have my dream job. I just don't know what to do. DH has been unemployed for 15 months (he's been trying so hard to find something comparable to what he was doing/getting paid) so I am the breadwinner currently. All of the kids, DH, and I are all insured on my plan. If it IS cancer I have no idea what to do.
I'm trying to stay positive and hope it is a false positive but I'm not being very successful. Thanks for listening. Send positive thoughts my way please. I live in Philadelphia and will be going to the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) cancer center. That's where my mom had her treatment and they were great. I'm waiting for them to call me to schedule everything; I'm assuming they will want to do all the tests quickly.

Good thoughts and prayers
Good thoughts and prayers coming your way. I am glad your spouse is being supportive.
I have. My doctor said I
I have. My doctor said I should wait until I have any kids I want to have and then have a mastectomy and at least a partial hysterectomy. I am only 29 so I thought I had plenty of time for that. My doctor at my last OBGYN appt in July said that I need to have kids sooner rather than later and then have the surgery. I talked to DH but frankly, I am not ready for a kid yet (until he has a job and we are more settled house wise).
IF it turns out I do have cancer, before any treatments I am going to harvest and freeze my eggs just in case any treatments affect fertility.

Don't worry before you know there is anything to worry about. There's nothing you can do right now that you're not already doing.
Worst case, if it is cancer, it was caught VERY early which is great for treatment success.
Children are not life.
Children are not life. Protect your life. Kids may or may not happen but if they do you must be healthy and well to be the best mom you can be. You must be healthy and well to be the best CBCharlotte you can be regardless of the kid thing.
Take care of you. My best wishes for health and happiness for you.
