How "unfair" it is for DD to have a birthday

borrowedtime83's picture

Basically not a heck of a lot more than the title. My DD had a birthday the end of last week, so now SD has to go on an overnight shopping spree with MIL and auntie today. We haven't even had the birthday party yet, so I shudder to think of the repercussions will be for that. DD has only received the gifts that I personally bought her, and MIL did not even acknowledge DD on her birthday. But you know, whatever it takes to make sure precious SD doesn't have to get her fee fees hurt because someone else got a few gifts for their birthday.

I find it really sad that kids are being taught that only their happiness matters. When I was growing up I had 5 siblings who all had birthdays and I was taught to be happy for the kid whose birthday it was and to get some enjoyment out of seeing my little brother's joy. Life is not always "fair" and I'll be damned if my mom and dad were gonna worry about some spoiled rotten entitled brats getting their way all the time. But ever since my daughter turned 3, the first birthday we ever had as a blended family, SD pouted and acted like a bitchy little turd and every year she gets spoiled on DD birthday by MIL and auntie.
