Tired of Secrets
BM likes secrets. Her secrets are her form of control.
The only problem is that to keep a secret one usually has to lie.
BM has secrets with SS9 that SS13 doesn’t know about; so SS9 is lying to his brother to keep his secrets with BM.

Both SS9 and SS13 tell us the secrets they have with BM but then ask DH and me not to tell the other brother.
This is so sickening to me. I think it’s sad that BM is teaching the boys its okay to have secrets and lie to your family.
DH is frustrated too. Last night he asked SS13 what the deal is with all the secrets. SS13 just looked at him shocked.
DH said the secrets were stupid and just causes more pain when the secrets are revealed. DH said that families should not have secrets. SS13 just sat in silence.
SS13’s response said it all to me. He thinks that secrets and lies are normal.
I also believe that the boys have secrets with BM that they are lying about to keep from DH and I. It’s depressing.

I agree. And I know from experience.
When my sister and I were in college I lived at home and my sister lived on campus. My sister would come home on the weekends.
She had a secret she wanted kept from my parents. I spent so much time lying to our parents, covering for her, and when her secret was revealed it ruined the whole family. And my sister didn't care that I took the brunt of anger from our parents, she totally used me.
Our relationship has never been the same since. She's basically my sister in name only.
I just don't want this for the boys.

Anyone who's teaching their kids that lying is essentially ok will reap what they sow. Just wait until these kids are full-blown teenagers...

SS13 already has "adult spousal status" at BM's house and SS9 is beginning to resent both BM and SS13.
