First of all I want to start on a good note! I had a fabulous long weekend with my family. My husband and I are building our first home, and we go by the property every weekend to see the current progress of the house, and that’s always exciting and fun to us. Our kids were generally well behaved, and we got a Costco membership to top it off. So enough said for that happy la te da stuff…on to the sordid stuff that people actually like to read…I started off the morning in a funk. My SS,11 and I normally talk over breakfast and while on our way to school it’s an enjoyable routine. This morning he was stuck on his mother. I listen, I nod, I’m polite, I try to reassure and be supportive to listening about her from the kids. His mother is having a baby, and is due in May. He is pretty excited about being a big brother again which I guess is understandable. I feel that this boy is in for a big eye opener when he see’s his mom again with new baby in tow. He made the comment to me this morning he hoped she had time for him and his sister since he knows she’ll be really tired and busy with the new baby. He told me he would probably just hang out with his step dad because his mom will need a break. It really broke my heart! It irks me that this woman gets to have the heart of these precious kids (and another one on the way), and they put her on this pedestal when she can’t even call them on Valentine’s Day. My SS asked if she called that day or sent anything that day, and we all even made a special trip to the mailbox together to look for a card from her, even though I had already checked the mail, and she hadn’t sent one the kids just wanted to see for themselves. My SS actually made an excuse for her saying she was probably just busy or not feeling well with the soon to be baby and forgot. Do people like this ever see what damage they are doing? Or do they just keep on and keep on till there isn’t anything left to leech upon?
