Operant Conditioning (Day 2)
It was requested that I post updates, so here's the first one My reasoning for doing this is on my last blog http://www.steptalk.org/node/52529.
Day 2 seems to be going by without any issues…which makes for a nice change for us.
They’ve been home for right at 2 hours. SD7 has received 5 skittle bits with a “good job” tagged along with it while SS9 has received 3. They both seem to be looking to get them but are unsure what they need to do to achieve it.
I have been giving them skittles for them doing things, without being asked. Things that I normally have to ask them repeatedly to do or remind them about when they should be able to do it without being nagged…so I’d have to say that for day 2, it’s going well.
When they do get a skittle and “good job”, they look slightly confused yet happy that they seem to have figured something out.
SD7 spoke to MIL on the phone last night & it went like this-
SD: GMA, guess what! Anywho is giving us Skittles!
MIL: Really? Is that for your snack?
SD: Ummm…no….she’s just giving them to us one at a time a few times! I got more than SS did!
MIL: Okaaayyy…that’s nice that she’s giving you candy…one at a time???!???
SD: Yeah, I’m gonna try to empty the WHOLE BOWL!
MIL: Okay.
I called MIL once the Skids went to bed to explain the situation (yes, I HAD to share!). She thought it was hysterical & hopes that it ends up working.

Great idea!! I wonder if this would work on teenagers? lol I'd probably have to come up with something other than skittles.
