This is odd
Today is YSD's 18th birthday. Last skid to age out! Woo Hoo!
DH just sent me a text to send CS an email letting them know that YSD is not in high school full time.
In our state CS goes 18 & graduated but have to be in school full time.
I'll talk to DH tonight but I have no idea where this came about.
BM collected CS for MSD even though she had dropped out of school, didn't live with BM and had her own baby. We didn't find out until after she had aged out, so CS said we would have to get a lawyer and sue her. (too much trouble) But DH didn't act like it was that big of deal. I was pissed because it was like he was giving away money to BM and he was okay with it. He said "Well it's for my kids". Ummm okay DH I'm sure she isn't giving MSD any money to help her but whatever.
So the fact that he is initiating this is a big surprise. He really only has 7 weeks of CS left so I figured he wouldn't even be worried about.

On the website account it had been showing her date of emancipation as today, her 18th birthday. DH did get a letter that stated unless she is still in school then CS would end today. We figured BM would get the letter and send it to CS. And the account was later updated to her graduation date being the date of emancipation.
DH must have found out something to make him ask me to send the email.

Ahhh the benefits of a FauxBook Acct!!
OSS moved out when he was just turned 19--the Girhippo kept silent hoping to continue to receive CS till he turned 21 (which would be October 2017) I caught it on my FauxBook Acct (since all three skids have been PASed out for over 7 years and we have ZERO contact with the BM)
In NYS you have to go back to court when skid ages out at 21, fight for 6-7 months and then it stops but no retroactivity for payments paid beyond 21. NYS hopes that CS will live forever since they get so many kickbacks from the Feds for "most CS collected" award.
It took about 12 years for Chef to see that the massive wads of CS wasn't "going for the kids" but basically funding the Girhippo's monthly vacation account. At no time was the money used for skid's tutoring (which they are badly in need of), clothes or anything else. They have dropped out of extra curriculars and the walking ATM that the Gir is married to pays for everything else.
Sadly in NYS CS continues through 21 regardless of skid status UNLESS said skid moves out, becomes self supporting and legally emancipates (HA!)

Every state is different, as we all know. If I recall correctly, CS stopped at 18 unless enrolled in full-time college. I think the cap was 24 then.
This is interesting dynamics for you guys, considering YSD isn't in school full-time. I'm interested to see how this plays out. In DH's favor, hopefully.

I asked DH what information he had about this and he said he just knows she isn't taken a full course of classes and she's not in school full time. He said he thinks he's right and if he's wrong so be it. At least he is checking up on it.
