How to Keep a 5 year old clean

young but wise's picture

So as I posted last week, BM decided to try to be a mom and get SS5 off to preschool. Her second time all year. Like I said before we had issues with lunch and winter gear. She wanted to pick out the picture outfit for pictures that day even though we told her that we already had bought a nice outfit for pictures. Whatever. Not a huge deal. I picked him up from school at 2:15. The teacher pulled me aside and told me the reason I had to run him up a lunch is because she sent one but it didn't contain appropriate stuff. In the parent handbook it is stated that there needs to be 5 things in it: Bread, Dairy, Veggies, Fruit, and Protien. It also states that milk or juice is provided. BM and SO both have a copy of this booklet. The teacher handed us the lunch that BM packed and I opened it to find: 5 Oreo's, a baggie of cheese balls, and chocolate milk. I never would have even guessed it was that bad. Anyways, we went home, changed him into our clothes, and just hung out the rest of the night. We have to change him as soon as he comes over EVERYTIME because a while back SO and BM got into a fight because we would send him in an outfit and then he would come back either in PJ's or an outfit two sizes too big. So they agreed that we would ALWAYS send him back in whatever he came in. Needless to say SS came home with some marker on his "picture" shirt. (SO and I were very dissapointed in the outfit because we had a nice one picked out and she was so dead set on using hers which ended up being a longsleeve shirt with "HEARTBREAKER" on the front. He wears nicer shirts than that to school every day!) She picked him up Friday at 6pm to bring him to his grandma's cabin. All of a sudden today we get a text saying:

"What time are you picking SS up? Can you get him early today since I kept him this weekend? Also please walk out with him when I pick him up don't just shut the door behind him racing out. Please don't wreck his good clothes also. Oh and did you send in and CS yet? Thanks."

For one, the marker happened at school, nothing we could have done about it. HE IS 5!!!!!!! His clothes WILL get dirty. Second, you were crabby and SO did not want to fight. Third, CS isn't due til the end of the month. Fourth, God forbid a mother to have her child for 38 hours consecutively. When will she get it through her head that she is a mother and actually step up to the plate???

If I were your DH I would tell her to kiss my ass. She has no right to dictate to him about whether or not he walks out with him. Nonsense. I would tell her to just not text anymore at all unless it was absolutely necessary. Some of these women truly do not get it and think they can say whatever they want and they truly do feel justified in what they say and don't you just love the curt little "thanks" they throw in at the end. That is just me though, I have totally disengaged with BM all the way.
