Tomorrow is Medusa's birthday

this morning, as DH and I were getting ready for work, it hit me that 18 years ago today was Columbine. Some of you here know my very personal connection to that event and the impact it had on my life.

Typically on this day, I would send a text to my kids and remind them to touch base with their grandmother, but she died in the fall and this is the first Columbine anniversary since her death. I remarked to DH that it was going to be weird for me now that she is gone.

DH said "think I should send the skids a text and remind them to touch base with their mom tomorrow?"

And then we both burst out laughing....

I asked DH how old Medusa will be tomorrow. The answer is 47. I looked at DH and said "so that means that she was 41 years old the last time she saw her kids.

Happy birthday, you miserable c*nt.

I have some of the same feelings about the JonBenet Ramsey murder also in the same basic area of CO. My beautiful niece was approximately the same age as JBR. My brother had 10x more money than the Ramseys. They all lived in Boulder.

My niece was much prettier than JBR - but fortunately her parents did NOT put her in that stupid pageant crap. It really rattled me that maybe it could have been my beloved niece.
