I think having spending money, in small amounts, that kids are responsible for helps teach responsibility, planning, accountability, and delayed gratification.
I don't agree that kids should be paid for contributing to the family.
I do think that kids should have the option to 'earn' a little extra by doing extra around the house.
I don't seem to agree with myself!
No money for helping to clean
No money for helping to clean the house, their room or their clothes. They want money - clean a car. They rarely do it. So when they ask for money - I always remind them - Clean A Car!
