The Medusa family wedding....

WalkOnBy's picture

took place on Saturday.  It was, shall we say, interesting.

Kelly, the bride, was lovely and the ceremony was light and breezy and really great.  The reception was fun, the food was good, the music was great!

When we got to the reception, Lori, Medusa's SM came racing up to me to tell me that DH and I were at one of the family tables with one of Medusa's aunts and her (adult) kids.  I clearly made a face, because the last time I had heard, this particular aunt was still on speaking terms with Medusa.  Lori told me that those folks had a big dust up with Medusa, so now they weren't talking to her but the other aunt, who last I knew was NOT speaking to Medusa, now was speaking to Medusa.  I told Lori that I was going to need a scorecard to keep up with all the "who is talking to whom" in that family - it seriously changes that much...

Anyway, about halfway through dinner, DH got up to go to the bar and Medusa's aunt, we will call her Mary, sat down in his seat and whispered, "I am sure you have heard that we aren't talking to Medusa right now."  I gave my usual Medusa family response, "mmm hmmm."  She then went on to tell me WHY - which, really, I didn't want to know, but OMG...

So, Mary has a daughter named Lindsay.  Lindsay is probably in her early 30s.  Lindsay is gay.  When Lindsay came out to her family, of course, Medusa's dad was super nasty and made fun of Lindsay.  He is a racist, bigot, a-hole, so no surprise there.  A few years back,. Lindsay developed a serious drinking problem, sought treatment and turned her life around.  Until last November, that is, when she had a really bad breakup and returned to drinking.  Mary made arrangements for Lindsay to go to a treatment center that was in Big City on the west side of the state, near where Medusa lives.

According to Mary, once Medusa found out that her niece, Lindsay, was in treatment, she made several visits.   Okay, fine, it is her niece, afterall.  BUT-Medusa decided that since she was the closest relative in terms of physical distance, SHE should be the one calling the shots.  According to Mary,  Medusa began to boss the doctors and therapists around because of course she did.  Mary got several calls from the facility asking her to restrict Medusa from visiting, which Mary did.

Medusa. like most narcissists, didn't like being told that she wasn't in charge and so she somehow figured out when Mary was going to be there to visit Lindsay and Medusa decide to lie in wait in the parking lot.  When Mary arrived, Medusa screamed at her for the ban, screamed about what a horrible parent Mary is/was and how only Medusa could properly assist Lindsay, since she was the only sane person in the family.   Mary summed it up by saying that Medusa was acting like Lindsay's mother and she told Medusa to butt out - that there was NO WAY that a mother who hadn't seen her own kids in almost 7 years would have ANY CLUE as to what was best for Lindsay.

It apparently devolved from there, which resulted in a visit from the local police to the parking lot to break up the fight.  Yes, the fight - Medusa punched Mary in the face several times, breaking her nose and giving her a concussion.

I just sat there with my mouth hanging wide open and ended the conversation with "oh, my...."

Medusa - mother to all but her own f*cking kids.  Okay, sure, lady.   Yeah, YOU know what's best...

Good to see that Medusa is classy as ever. I was starting to worry that she was turning over a new leaf and NOT being a pain in anyone's arse.

OMG. Keeping it classy, Medusa! What trash. Who punches someone?? (Ok, I have actually had vivid dreams about punching Crazy, but in my defense I have never, nor would I ever, actually do it)

always nice to have Medusa for the entrainment. You don’t need to hire outside people

Medusa sounds just like my oldest sister.  She's crazy and I stay far, far away.

Glad to hear you had a nice time at the wedding*acute*
