I saw it as I was packing up my classroom yesterday.

I was planning to start reading it today, but it's gone.

She said on another post that she deleted it because people were pm'ing her saying they were offended (or some such crap) because it was humiliating to those posters.

That's not a quote.

I'm freeeeeeeee!!!!!
I don't have to go back to work until September 5 and do not have to see students until September 7.

I used to teach and the summer was indeed wonderful Smile

My mom teaches now, and I love how much more I get to see her over the break!

We have either 3 term or 4 term calendars. Polly is on a 3 term with a 2 week, 4 week and 6 week school holiday periods. I dread the 6 week one as she is bored witless after week 1. I could not handle 10 weeks in a row. I would gnaw my wrists off!

3 terms - May 5 weeks, Aug/Sept 1 week and December 5 weeks....

and we wonder why kids are stupid, way to many holidays.... this is not counting the mid term breaks they announce when ever the teachers feel like taking a week off Blum 3 Blum 3

Ha ha Acra, Miss Polly has 1 distinction in Math and A's in her other subjects Blum 3 She almost made a distinction in Afrikaans which she was failing 1.5 years ago. The only subject she got disappointing marks is Zulu but she's only done it for 5 months.

Ours are April 2 weeks, August 4 weeks and December to January 6 weeks. 1 week mid term break in June.

You prevent the I'm bored issues by enrolling the kids in summer camp.

Between camp during the day and hanging with neighborhood friends at night, they don't have time to get bored.

Acratopotes's picture

MArs and Pluto do not have these luxuries of day camps

it's the parents problem to entertain them, while you are working full time cause you can't afford alternatives..
oh even day cares close during these times...

Camps here free to several thousand dollars. (sleep away and travel camps).

My school has two camps. Both start July 5. One is free and the other is about $400-$500 hundred dollars.
The free camp runs until the Friday before school resumes(that program also has a free after school program). The other camp runs until the end of July. (that program has a $600 after school program).

All of the camps here take the kids on trips to sites in and around the city. They go to various theme parks in NY, NJ,PA and CT.

The free camps here tend to be in low income areas.

The programs receive funding from city and state to provide services/program from the families in the area. While the programs target low income areas, they are open to everyone.

The programs I mentioned are housed in my school(and only our students can attend), but are not funded by our school. Each agency provides the funding.

Lady, is there a summer meal program in your area?

During the summer, kids 21 and under and go into public schools and receive free breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday. The program runs the day after school ends until the day before school resumes.

I know that 21 year olds are not kids. But I think that age is in place because it aligns with the age when kids age out of foster care/ CPS system. It also included in the age range for the city's SYEP (summer youth employment program 14-21)program.

I don't know! I missed it all!

However, if people really were getting their feelings hurt, I guess it's good it got taken down.

I understand people being upset from what little I read it did not name names buy made it clear who each part was about.

It seemed to made to be attacking and was in no way helpful to anyone in this group other then being a bashing post. Sure it was possibly funny but many users in guessing found it to be the opposite of what this site seemed to be created for.

I don't think any good would have come from it staying up even if it was meant in jest.

TwoOfUs's picture

Well...that's good to know. I really don't like when users start attacking other posters right off the bat...but some of the stories lately have been fairly unbelievable. Still...I guess there's no way to converse about this without some real people looking for real help getting trashed, so it's probably good it came down.

BB I read it and didn't think anything of it. There was nothing bad you were just re-capping the crazies. I enjoyed it.
