Talked to "Dear wife"

Well, I had a long talk with me "dear wife " last night. I opened the conversation by saying our oldest man baby , age twenty two , should move out by the time he's twenty three. So on or before his next birthday he is to move out.

She got very defensive and said we should give him more time. But in the end she did say that we would talk to him together and inform him he is to move out by that time. Its not going to be an option , its going to be a requirement.

I had to pay a high price during this discussion. When I told her that its been hard for me living with two men who don't respect me or are in any small way grateful towards me , she tore into me like a lion into a zebra. She pointed out all my mistakes over the last decade or more and made me feel an inch high. She said I was selfish and self centered.

Having my step sons respect me and be grateful towards me , in just a small way , is contingent upon my wife being grateful for me having raised the two baby men along side being a devoted husband.

All three of them have very short memories. What memories my wife chooses to remember are not positive ones.

One small sucess , one more slap in the face.
Signed - Swimming in gratitude.

So.....how do you feel about the result? More hopeful about your marriage? More loving and tender for/from your wife?

Congratulations on taking this step. It sounds like was hard for you to do. Plus it's good that she did finally agree to having him out. You are giving him a very generous amount of lead time. More than most landlords do.

It sounds like there is a huge lack of respect going both ways between you and your wife.

Evil hit the head right on the mark. GASLIGHTING. Redirecting the conversation away from the topic and AGAINST you.

I couldn't be in a relationship where my spouse showed such blatant disrespect for me.

I don't see this going well for you, I'm sorry. I would also bet that no way does man baby leave the house when he's 23.
