Im trying to figure out at what point sd13 fully disengaged her brain. She has been incapable of doing, finding, anything for months now. She will stand in the fridge with what she wabts directly in front of her and ask where us xyz? Or ask how do I stop the DVD player (something she has done a thousand times in the past)? It's insane. Where are my shoes- right in front of here, where is the salsa- right in front of your damn face, how do I open the box- are you fucking kidding me??? It's constant!! She is being manipulative and lazy, in my opinion.m I'm so sick of it. If she's not trying to be lazy and manipulative, she has dropped about a hundred iq points in 2 months.

Anyone have any insight? Even dh and ss10 have asked what the heck, IRS right there, are you kidding me you don't know how to take the top off ice cream, stop the DVD player, etc???

Bwahaha! Your first sentence summed it all up... this kid is a teenager. It gets worse before it gets better! Blum 3

Its a tween girl thing. Mine lost about 100 IQ points in the past two months and is practically in need of a caregiver. She forgot how to turn off the water sprinkler and had her face down in the spraying sprinkler soaked and coughing trying to unscrew it from the water hose... Instead of, you know, turning off the faucet and being done with it? She leaves the back door wide open and/or unlocked, leaves the laundry room door open so the dog can get the trashcan. She forgets EVERYTHING. She will (LITERALLY) not brush her teeth for three days (3 days - yep, she did a full THREEDAYS sans brushing teeth) and will not remember to shower or brush her teeth until I say "brush your teeth sweetheart". She forgets to wash her face in the shower, so I have to remind her "wash all your skin in the bath, that means ear-bones, necky-wecky, facey-wacey, toesy-woseys, and every other widdle body bit, don't forget bottom, and wash and shave your undiearmies cause we can see them in your short-sleeve school shirts". Seriously, if I don't tell her/remind her, she doesn't do it or anything. She looks in the fridge for something and stares straight at it and asks "wheres the xyz".

However, when I tell her to do something, she does it or at least does try (sometimes, she does it like she has an IQ of the dog and she has to re-do it, but she does it, and sometimes it takes her an hour what should be 15 minutes, but again, she does it).

Someone told me that tweens just sort of "go stupid" chemically for some reason, they just turn stupid, get really touchy and embarrassed when called out on being stupid too. Once I heard that and researched it, I decided to really step back off her and stop being so irritated by it and stop reacting to her in that "are you stupid FFS" fashion that I started responding to her with because I was certain that she was being manipulative or just being an ass since it was sort of just "BOOM, STUPID" all of a sudden this year. They aren't manipulating or pushing buttons, they really are sort of mentally/memory challenged for a couple of years.

She does what I tell her right away, she just doesn't notice that her mouth is like the pit of hell after a couple days, so it is like going back through the preschooler stage aaaalll over again with preschoolers in nearly-adult bodies. Once I changed my approach to her, she really is trying. (I still sometimes think "good lord she is stupid as snot today", but I never say it).

Ahhh....I had a feeling it might be that. I can remember being very forgetful about that age and not knowing why. She is just so psycho I needed to know it was normal and not just another game. I'm so over this kid.

I love "stupid as snot", lol...but unfortunately its happening to boys too and I think it may never stop : (

The good news is, she's female, so it's likely only temporary. Males never outgrow the whole staring into the fridge yelling, "Where's the [insert item staring them directly in the face]?" Biggrin
