SS13 comes down from his room with his math book for the second time. Previously he came to me for help while I was cooking dinner and was able to ask him Qs to help him understand.

Usually the more he comes down, the more he is just looking for attention.

This time it was after dinner and DH and I were enjoying an alone moment at the table while the kids were all upstairs, showering, playing, etc. SS comes down with his math book and sits on the other side of DH (across from me) and starts talking, i continue to look at my phone (probably on StepTalk, LOL). Then he pushes his book to me.

"Oh, are you asking me?"

So I ask him where his work is, as it is usually very neat and numbered but this time he just has some scratch at the top of the page that he points to.

We look at the problem and i ask him how he thinks it should be done and he lazily points to the scratch. My only comment is that these aren't the same numbers that are in the problem he is talking about, and he starts to talk over me. I tell him, this is why it's important to be neat and ... he talks over me again.

So i just say, "I'm not really able to help you if you keep talking over me"

SS13 picks up his stuff, "Fiiiiiiine, forgeeeeeet itttttt" and shlumps back up stairs.
