SS11, the most dramatic sick kid I know
Both of the skids, especially him, like to make a mountain out of a molehill when they are sick, and I mean stomachache, headache sick, not vomiting or diarrhea sick which is completely different.
If you remember, SS11 also has the issue of lying a lot. Anyhow, when he gets home with SS16 Wednesday night, he starts complaining that he doesn't feel well. I told him he could leave his homework for the next day, take a shower and go to bed (they get home at about 9pm since they go to SS16's boxing gym first).
Thursday morning, he laid in bed just saying he didn't feel well. No vomiting, no diarrhea, but SO decides to let him stay home. He stood in the living room, watching tv all day, and when I got back from work, I didn't even really want to deal with his pretend sick ways so I tried to just ignore him and only deal with SO and DD and make myself busy.
Because I was ignoring him, he wants to up the ante and ask at about 7pm "why am I throwing everything up, even the juice?". Mind you, I never once saw skid vomit, but he did keep going to the bathroom and made sure we noticed...but never smelled or saw vomit when I went in afterwards. When I asked SO, neither did he. I told him, "the next time you throw up, let me see". Because he claimed he didn't eat anything all day, so he shouldn't really have been vomiting anymore, if he had been vomiting.
So he takes a bath at about 9pm. Then I hear him moaning as I walk out of my room, but I ignore him, and since he sees I ignored him, he called me to his room. I saw what looked like water on the floor. He told me he threw up. I even asked him if it was water because people, it didn't look like vomit. I think that because I asked him to see his vomit and he couldn't come up with anything else, he took a glass of water, threw it on the floor, and pretended to vomit.
So just to be sure, I cleaned it up with a white t-shirt. It was clear, odorless, not sticky, and the consistency of water. It even dried up just like water. I kept the t-shirt for SO to see.
Friday morning, he said he felt too weak to get out of bed. I took his temperature and he did have a fever. I gave him medicine, and he stood home again from school. I knew at that point that it was most likely true that he had FELT sick, but the issue I have is with him pretending to be sicker than he is, and the levels that he'll go to just so you can believe him (pretending to vomit and have diarrhea). I had also asked him to see the diarrhea and when he showed me, it wasn't at all.
Saturday morning, gave him more meds, because the fever was better but still there, they went to see their mom for the EOWE visit. They came back, he was fine. Sunday same story. Now because he knows he has to go back to school the next day, he starts acting sick again, saying he doesn't feel well and just playing the sick role.
Yesterday morning I left to work early just because I didn't want to deal with it. I know I said this before, but I hate when people pretend they are sick. SO calls me and asks me if my mother can watch DD because he thought he might have to take SS to the ER. I asked him why and he said skid wasn't feeling well. I asked him, did you see him vomit? Did he have diarrhea? He said no to both. Apparently the thermometer I left home for them didn't work so there was no way to tell if he had a fever still. I told him he should take skid to pediatrician, which he should have done last week but didn't.
He ends up sending skid to school, picking him up at 1pm after he dropped DD off, and the MD gave skid some neb treatments and said he can miss school tomorrow as he might be contagious. When I looked at the paperwork, it said the visit was due to vomiting and diarrhea, none of which we ever saw. I asked SO why did it say that and he said "Well SS11 said he had it!".
I'm just annoyed because it's another day of being around a kid who's just going to pretend to be sick all day (I have off today) and I don't want to have to deal with him, as SO goes to work at 1pm (he called out yesterday). Last night, he was acting all fine and I told him, "What happened, I thought you were sick?" And he goes "Well I'm still contagious! So I can't go to school anyway!". Yea kid, the doctor thinks you're contagious because you lied and said you had vomiting and diarrhea.
Did I mention I can't stand liars? Not little small lies or sometimes lying, but all the time flat out liars?

Also, I'm sure he'll be even
Also, I'm sure he'll be even worse tomorrow morning when he has to go back to school. According to SO, the doctor told them that if he didn't feel better by Wednesday, he would have to go back to see her. I'm sure skid isn't going to get better anytime soon.
Someone suggested this to me
Someone suggested this to me last year and it worked. But he's back at it again. I don't doubt he felt sick when he had the fever, but he took it to another level saying he has diarrhea and vomiting.
SD10 does the opposite,
SD10 does the opposite, pretends to be OK even though she is clearly ill.
I've learned to watch her for that and alert DP if he doesn't notice.
SD12 is a little dramatic, but getting over it.
She stayed home this fall for two days in a row. No fever, no coughing, no runny nose, just "felt so tired." I told DP to take her to the doctor because she needs to be checked for anemia. That got him thinking. Then he realized the second day that she was non-stop watching some show. We think she stayed home to marathon watch it - once DP (himself! I didn't say a word except about the doctor visit if he was concerned) realized what she was doing she was back at school the next day.
I'm a nurse so I'm used to
I'm a nurse so I'm used to all types of shit }:) , I did that because he kept going in the bathroom saying he just vomited, no odor, no evidence. Same thing with the diarrhea, so I asked him to show me both. Hence the fake vomit aka water and the poo which wasn't diarrhea.
Believe it or not there's a
Believe it or not there's a lot of info in someone's poo and vomit!
