Ny resolution: Is it unrealistic to expect ss20 to move out?
So in a nutshell, ss20 works at a thrift store for minimum wage 30 hours a week. We bought him a car for his bday, 5k and he put in almost 2k. In a matter of less than a month he managed to get into 3 accidents, on each Friday after the car purchase and the car has been out of commission since the last accident where he alleges someone ran into him.
He is also “creating music” and states he is getting paid well enough to be able to afford 3k in Uber monthly now that the car is in the mechanic. He pulled out a wad of money the other day to fix the car. The problem is that my intuition tells me that he’s doing something we don’t know about, seeing as I have yet to see a music video. I’ve tried to alert SO, but I still get the head in the sand response.
We now have a huge house and I put SS20 in the basement since it has its own entrance and he convinced me that he wanted to build a studio for music. He has without fail given us money for it as per our agreement monthly. Except he started to have a girl stay over and it wasn’t part of our agreement (this piece also has a long backstory I can’t get into right note to avoid making this confusing). When we called him out on it and told him she can no longer stay over (after 2 months of me suspecting this was the case), he stated he understood but now is doing the passive aggressive not picking up the phone for his dad thing and hasn’t come home for the past 2 days.
Thing is, he doesn’t want to go to college nor the military nor a vocational school. He wears high end brand stuff (balenciaga, off limits) and states that he he is able to help his mom financially (who by the way still owes now over god knows what in cs). SS14 soon to be 15 is thinking he can have a future in music. Is it fair that I want to move SS 20 out to his own place by the end of the year

Alarm bells
No you asre not being unreasonable at all in any way!! This entitled boy is taking liberties!!!! If he can afford high end clothing and uber rides he can pay rent on a small apartment of his own. He needs to move out before the other one follows suit , the sheer audacity of supporting BM financially when she owes CS is a flagrant disregard for his father and he needs to go !! He's probably doing something dodgy as his wage doesn't reflect his lifestyle and if he was earning from these music all endeavours surely he would be paying tax so would be able to show you ? I say approach this with passive aggression and say you respect he wants a girl to stay and you are proud he has made it in the Industry furthermore you don't want him to feel like he had to stay for your sakes and he is welcome to branch out now and you fully support his decision!!!! Good luck !!!!
No not unreasonable
But what you think should happen and what does happen with sk is two different things.
Yep, he's making plenty of
Yep, he's making plenty of money to move out. Do it before the police do a drug raid on your home.
Which if he’s making that kind of cash
Odds are good that's likely to happen.
He can afford 3K a MONTH for
He can afford 3K a MONTH for Uber? NO way I'm buying that he's getting that money legally. He definitely making more than enough to afford an apartment and utilities closer to wherever he's picking up/selling drugs or prostituting. Time for him to GO.
Making money in the music
Making money in the music industry. Hahahahah. Possible? Yes, but it generally takes years of hard work to make it profitable, whether you're a musician, promoter, producer, songwriter, etc.
But no matter, go with the charade, Congratulate him on his success, and grant him full independence.
