SS putting on an act?
I'm a little confused. SS12 was having a really rough time at his mom's house and was telling us he wanted to live with us full time. He knows that once I finish my BA in about a year we will be moving to wherever I get accepted into grad school at. I never expected him to want to move with us... After all, his mom, brother, sister, and grandparents are all in this dump of a town. FDH has been convinced that SS has changed his mind because of the things that have been going on with his mom.
Today, my BS11 came upstairs before breakfast in near tears. He and SS had gotten into a fight and SS yelled at him that he wasn't moving with us and when we left he was keeping the Xbox. I don't think SS has any idea how much my BS LOVES him.
My thing is this... Is SS just putting on a nice guy act in front of my FDH to get in good with him? He has a history of choosing sides when it got him what he wanted. Or is this just a simple case of an older brother being a jerk and saying something mean on purpose?
Sad thing is, I don't even know what to say to my BS. He is all crushed about losing SS. But, in my head, I'm thinking this is the same kid that said a whole bunch of lies about me, FDH, and my BS. I'd never say that to my BS. It makes me kind of sad too, because I thought SS really was beginning to blend in with our family.

People say things in anger
People say things in anger that they know REALLY hurts the most.
I would tell SS that he doesn't choose where he wants to live and moving with you guys takes more than his wish and a prayer or his father WANTING it so. It depends on whether he is grown up enough to deal with consequences.
He should apologise to BS11. Also SS is 12 and starting to feel the roar of testosterone which will lead to a LOT of head butting with everyone particularly any other males in the house. And in time BS will as well.
DH needs to teach him how to be an honorable young man and not throw his weight around. Oh and put a sticker on the XBox ... Property of SadStep.
