I accepted a verbal offer this AM.

Woo hoo!

Knock on wood the written offer, CBC, and on boarding all go well.  They should.  Unless some unrecognized alter ego surfaces.  Which might be interesting.

Not great from a base (~30% low)... but incredible variable comp and more than doubles our current marital income.  It also lets us stay where we are and continue to keep the focus on DW's career.

We were not looking forward to me being a road warrior again and only having weekends together. We have done that several times in our marriage. Not where we wanted to be again.

Here is to opportunity!

Not having to be a road warrior is worth a little reduction in the pay you wanted.  Big time.  I'm positive your DW agrees..

Thanks everyone.

As for DW... we were reviewing the offer letter and benefits this evening.  She was happy and then, she said "And we will be together".  Cue teary wife and Rags with a lump in his throat and leaky eyeballs.

She is thrilled that we get to have our days, nights, and weekends together, outside of working hours anyway.

Now, I will sacrifice a goat to the "please make this last for 5-8yrs" gods and that it gets us to retirement.

The best part, DW will be able to stay in her partner track role at a great firm without the distraction of my career situation... at least as long as this next one lasts.  I have been in a 2-3 year cycle on positions since 2011 involving 4 different companies plus 2yrs of COVID.

This role will be great if it can go 3. Every year after that is gravy. Though 5-8... would be ideal.

Knock on wood.

Thanks again for the support and well wishes.

Sincerely,

Rags

Fingers crossed for 5-8 years for you. My DH has also been cycling through jobs since covid and, about a year ago, took a job with less pay but more stability and better work-home balance. The trade off is 100% worth it. I'm happy for you and your DW!
