Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

I agree...but just the idea,
I agree...but just the idea, creating the term childism, tries to move the discussion into the same arena as racism, sexism, ageism...all the "isms" we've created and built legal frameworks to deal with.
What about helicopter
What about helicopter parenting, grade inflation, "social promotion," etc.? I don't think we do ourselves any favors by indulging in histrionics, telling people that because we as a nation struggle with:
* Building quality schools
* Providing adequate health care
* Creating safe environments in which children can grow and thrive
we are all a bunch of anti-child racist-equivalents. Indulging in this level of hyperbole only serves to shut down real dialogue on improving the overall quality of life we provide for our children (which could be logically argued ae supporte by the specific types of programs you quoted above).

so from that quote I take it that I am guilty of "Childism" when they scream no when asked to do something and I place them in time out. I take it that I was guilty of "Childism" when I spanked FSD3 for ripping out my ear ring.
This is a crock of shit. (sorry for the language) but it is. a dad shooting a lop top because his daughter posted on a social network bashing her parents is in my mind a perfect punishment, lap top is how she did it. A child physically hurts you I think a spanking is in order.
To me a BM thought of this, after all most of them are in another world when it comes to rational thinking.
