SD is leaving .... now DH wants to put the kibosh on spending...
Does anyone else deal with their husband or significant other being Mr. Moneybags while the skids are around, sparing no expense to make sure their snowflakes have the best visitation, only to turn around and become Mr. Cheapo when they leave? I finally called my DH out on it today

MY DH used to do this when SD
MY DH used to do this when SD lived with us. He would hand her $100.00 to get her hair done, money for movies, food etc with friends, just money left and right flying out the window for SD.. but would bitch if I bought BS a fucking happy meal.
Mine was the same, would not
Mine was the same, would not bat an eye when "the boys" (2 SS's) needed or wanted anything. Meanwhile, our everyday life was not like that at all. They must have thought we were rich...
DH does this wierd thing
DH does this wierd thing where if SDs are here he gets all stingy with groceries....like doesn't buy enough. He has to make dinner for SDs, one of their friends, and himself tonight but I know he didn't buy enough and told him that. I had to remind him again that they are not 7 and eat more like adults (SD11 at least). He got all snippy so I dropped it.
But if I go shopping, even if he gives me his card to use, he doesn't bat an eye.
One of those he has to experience it things I think.
He's been good about not spending too much on SDs this year, as his job hours have been tighter and I refuse to help out as much as I have in the past. No 'family' vacation for us this summer!
Well you hit the nail on the
Well you hit the nail on the coffin with this one Puzzled9401. I got bitched at for spending too much money on food but when it comes to DH's precious snowflakes and what he wants it's a different story.
YEP. DH will actually give
YEP. DH will actually give SD17 our only joint credit card to use to go 'get some face wash and shampoo' from the store. And as you would probably guess, she comes back with much more than just face wash and shampoo. We have also paid thousands and thousands for her out of state sports tournaments that she attends, and for her Spring Break trip with her boyfriend. I believe he also transfers spending money to her savings account on a regular basis - FROM OUR JOINT ACCOUNT. And that's not a problem in his eyes.
BUT, if we take the kids to McDonalds, he often won't get them the Happy Meal because it costs too much. Oh, and just recently, DS8 was asking about getting a new bike. DH told him that he can use his own money from Christmas and birthdays to buy it if he really wants one.
Effing ridiculous. Had to bite my tongue so hard it almost bled.
You guys paid for your SD17
You guys paid for your SD17 to go on Spring Break with her BOYFRIEND?
It was with his family. But
It was with his family. But still. Do you think the rest of us went anywhere?
Agreed. Just the tip of the
Agreed. Just the tip of the iceberg with this princess.
