I need to lose 10 lbs and my dh needs to lose 75lbs I am mainly doing this b/c he really needs to lose his weight and I know it is easier to do with someone. So anyway I cut out dr pepper and most of my sweets along with my chips...However the dr pepper is making me crazy super mood swings. I was just a b!tch to customer service..GRRRR I was nasty to my dh as well, he told me to get a bottle of DP and hung up. LOL What should I do? How should I handle this? I don't want to act like this. I want it to level out. I did get a glass and am drinking it. Anyone else have this problem? :?

I would say your body does not like the fact of no caffeine. I know this is easier said than done, but can you try diet DP?

I agree. I used to work for a soft drink manufacturing company and Diet DP Cherry Vanilla is one of the only diet sodas I can stand.

I know the caffeine withdrawals are horrible! I had headaches for days and a major meltdown. The cause of my meltdown? On a canoe trip I was told that there wasn't going to be any stores or anything so we weren't supposed to bring cash along. One day (a few days into the trip - no caffeine) there was a bait shop with a big ol' soda machine sitting out front and I FREAKED.

It may be the lack of caffeine; it is a drug. In fact, we use it in the hospital to help people w/migraines-give it IV. It's a key ingredient in over-the-counter migraine medications. People who suddenly stop large doses ( ie, serious coffee consumers) of it can suffer from severe headaches. Instead of going cold turkey, try the diet version or use the real stuff but gradually start cutting back on the number of DP's you're drinking daily until you're down to 1 per day. Switch to coffee or tea without sugar.

Making instant and dramatic diet changes are very difficult whether you're cutting out sweets, caffeine, salt, etc. Trying to do it all at once and then having issues can spell disaster b/c of the amount of frustration you are experiencing makes you give up. keep a diary of what you eat and start substituting things. If you like putting sugar on things, try doing 1/2 and 1/2 splenda instead. Drink a DP first in the day to give you a fix, and then diet DP's later.

Me, personally-I'm a carb addict. Give me a hot, fresh loaf of bread and I'm in heaven. And my butt gets bigger with each bite.

I drink about a 2 liter in a day so I assume that is why I freaked. Thanks I will start cutting it down. Yesterday I had 1 24 oz I think it was. Today I had one glass. I think I will have to do this slowly. LOL

I'd say start cutting it down - rather than cutting it OUT completely! Just the simple fact of being used to something and then it being gone can be enough to make normal people throw a fit Smile Start gradually cutting it...and replace what you would have drank with a glass of water. You'll start to feel better soon! Also make sure you are eating foods with lots of fiber and protein for long-lasting energy so you're less likely to want the boost of caffeine.

If you usually drink a lot, just cutting back will help your weight and your mood. I used to put away a 12 pack of Coke a day. I'm down to just 2 a day, and I don't really intend on dropping down any further. I know soda isn't great for you but it's my only real vice.
