It'll be a cold day in Hell...

"It'll be a cold day in Hell when I attend another family function on my side." As spoken by dh yesterday.

If you've been following along you know approximately a week ago we attempted to attend a wedding of one of dh's cousins. Attempted being the pertinent word here. As predicted, the cloven hoofed one materialized in a haze of sulfur and despair and thwarted any appearance we would have made.

Well lo and behold, on Friday dh receives an "invitation" to another cousin's graduation. It wasn't mailed. It was left on his desk at work. Gee, I wonder how it got there? *insert eyeroll here* This is a cousin, who by all accounts, has systematically ignored dh for the last five years as has his parents (dh's first cousin). Opting rather to sell their souls to the Princess of Darkness to maintain her benevolence and friendship.

So over cocktails on our back deck dh and I had a good long chuckle about all this. See, we aren't fools. We know dh was given that invitation to generate more gifts and cash for the happy little grad. And we also know twat waffle was the one who hand delivered the invite. I mean honestly, do these people think we are morons?! I told dh I'd sooner light $20 on fire than give a gift. He agreed. Dh said he would sooner "cut off his own nuts with a rusty hedge trimmer" (direct quote) than go ANYWHERE his mother and the inbred knuckle dragging swampcunt are.

It's so good when people show you their true colors. We aren't good enough to even merit a Christmas card, a hello, or even a basic modicum of civility in the last five years. But hey, we are good enough to take money and gifts from. Shameful...

This has taken year for dh, BVD. And it's not been an easy road for either of us. Lots of hurt feelings on his side and mine. And has nearly caused our relationship to end several times.

I just love your descriptions of the cloven hoofed one in the sulfur. It ALWAYS makes me smile and laugh.
