babies OT ,, help!
I need help, so i'm on maternity leave and i'm watching my SIL 5 1/2 Mo old son. He has always seemed very needy, I mean more so than your average needy baby but SIL, BIL, MIL everyone basically that usually takes care of him talks about how easy he is and that we've just seen him when he's tired. Well the kiddo has basically been crying for the past hour non stop and has done so since i started watching him at the beginning of this week and I'm about to shoot myself, and its not a normal cry its like this high pitch screaming, like a banshee... thankfully it seems my Dd has adapted and now snoozes away in her swing while my nephew is going apeshit. I've changed him, fed him, burped him, everything. The only thing that really stops him crying is if I pick him up and bounce him on the couch so he's like jumping? if that makes sense. I don't mind doing that but not all freaking day long and thats if he stops crying. My daughter who is almost 2 1/2 mo is very calm and only really cries when she's hungry, pooped, or dirty. Im scared now that shes going to get as fussy as this little guy. do babies get fussier as they get older??? omg

Oh outside does sound good, I
Oh outside does sound good, I have to try to figure this out though as I have 2 babies here. I bet I could probably wear my daughter and put my nephew in stroller as he is pretty big guy. It's supposed to get up to 60 degrees today so I think I may test this out.
omg i have a moby wrap and
omg i have a moby wrap and hadn't even thought of this! Thank you!!! I think today I may just do this.
Oh wow, I've never heard of
Oh wow, I've never heard of that. I will definately look into that. I feel so bad for the poor guy but at the same time I already want to throw in the towel.
There are just some babies
There are just some babies who like certain people. I had a friend whose youngest daughter would scream bloody murder if anyone else held her this started when she was 1 month old. I know at times it made her happy that the baby only wanted her and her husband but it got to the point where she was really stressed out about it. She is 2 now and it has finally stopped. I watched her for like 2 hours once and all she did was cry and call for mommy and she was a year old!
Ya know, I sorta feel this
Ya know, I sorta feel this way. My BIL was a stay at home dad up until this week when he left off for the navy and so I think this is a mix of him really just being a difficult baby and also he's probably in shock wondering where his daddy went.
some babies need that
some babies need that movement input to calm their brain circuits. Or - the high-pitch screaming sometimes comes with an ear infection - If it's the bouncing input thing, perhaps he's got other sensory fussiness - sound, light, smells, who knows. I worked with a baby like this and for him it was related to birth issues and lack of oxygen, had set his stress system on hyper vigilant and his brain wiring wouldn't let him calm and soothe. Is he at least sleeping appropriately?
I wish his screaming was due
I wish his screaming was due to an ear infection but sadly he's cried that way since birth. it's like a whistle. I think he's sleeping appropriately but i'm not sure. his momma told me not to let him nap in the afternoon and maybe that's it? He gets really fussy at that time. I feed him at noon and then she wants me to just keep him awake.
My nephew just has always
My nephew just has always seemed to be a difficult baby but whenever we'd see them and he'd be going crazy they'd always just say "oooh he's just tired" so I never really thought anything of it. His dad has been taking care of him for the past 3 months full time as he was awaiting his departure into boot camp and I think maybe his daddy would hold him and bounce him all day so i think this may have something to do with it. My SIL brought over his bouncer and she told me as long as he can see me he's content but it seems whenever I put him in this bouncer he loses his shit and is reaching out to be held.
omg i know!! Yesterday after
omg i know!! Yesterday after my nephew got picked up she was SO fussy. I think it's because she usually naps a lot during the day. My routine before starting to baby sit is that I would feed her around 7 am and play with her for maybe an hour and she'd be beat and sleep for 3 hours and then repeat. Now she seems to have tuned him out but she does wake and will just look at me like "wtf" and then fall back to sleep. So around 6pm yesterday she crashed so hard I had to wake her up to feed, which stopped happening a while ago. ahh, we'll have to see how it goes.
Yep, I feel blessed to have
Yep, I feel blessed to have such a sleepy baby. I feel paranoid now though that she's suddenly going to flip the script and start raging out like my nephew lol.
Yeah, I don't know what's up with the screaming. and it's weird too, it starts off like subtle light huffs then he starts taking these deep breaths and starts to howl. I come from a big family and so I've been around a ton of babies and never in my life have I ever seen anything like it. It's the strangest thing. The guy doesn't ever really cry, it's just screams.
