Afraid to say it out loud... (kinda long, but good stuff)

Last-Wife's picture

but Lazy Boye 15 and I had a good time on Friday! Afraid if I talk about it, I'll curse myself. He'd been a poophead all week, so I was afraid to take him for his driver's permit test. When Friday morning came, he was a little grumpy. I gave him 3 options and he followed through. I simply turned on the car radio, and told him not to speak for 30 minutes, till we got to our destination, and for him to have a better attititude by then.

We ate breakfast with Gibby and golden arches and dropped Gibby off at school. Then we took the car to a place where I had won a free oil change. It just happened to be across the street from the license testing location, so we left the car and walked across the street for him to test. Sadly, he did fail, but he said he'd just try again in a few weeks.

The car was just getting done. We had 2 hours to kill before Loca Grande was supposed to me us to get him. We drove to the gas station and he vaccummed out the car and organized all the car stuff. I found a walk-in place and got a quick hair cut. Ran by the post office. Headed back to golden arches, where we both did school work for an hour- he did homework and I graded papers... He asked for help with 2 things that had been giving him trouble. I showed him two teacher tricks and it all fell into place for him! The tricks allowed him to finish the work in half the time, and he was amazed and very thankful.

A little old lady came and sat down at a table near us, and commented on our work. He started talking to her, and made the comment he was really lucky to have a mom who was also a teacher, who had patience to help explain stuff to him!

First, Loghead wasn't acting like himself, and now Lazy Boye?! What's going on? But wait, it gets even weirder!

Loca Grande shows up 20 minutes EARLY with Gullible, her husband, in tow. She's still in the neck braced from her surgery, so he has to take her everywhere. I give her some schedule info she needs and some newspaper clippings the boys were in. And she APOLOGIZES. "I know I've been really out of whack for the last two months. I want to thank you for your understanding and caring. Thanks for all you do for my kids. I don't say that enough."

In shock, I mumble something to her, and head to the back of the car to help Gullible and Lazy Boye put stuff in the trunk. Lazy Boye runs back inside to th bathroom and Gullible tells me she spent the whole day Thursday crying, because she was worried about seeing me, afraid that I was forever mad at her. He said she said she knew she would deserve it if I was mad, but that she was sorry she had done things to destroy our relationship. Whoa.

(We're not really friends. She's crazy, and just thinks we are. My southern mama taught me to be nice to my friends, and nicer to my enemies. I'm pleasant to her and tolerate her. I am kind when I know she's feeling down. I am sorry for her. She lost her kids, and her life must suck. I'm sympathetic. But I can also hold a grudge when I have been wronged and she was REALLY NASTY this summer. I can continue to be nice to her though, because it confuses her, and that can be fun, and if it gets me what I want, then so be it.)

And my good day continues from there. A pedicure. The doctor appointment (which was the real reason I took the day off work). Wally-world. Spray tan. The bulls-eye shopping place. Meet up with the friend that was picking up Gibby from school. A call from Loghead to meet him at his sister's office.

Gibby and I pull up the car next to his, and he holds up a bucket of chicken and says to follow him. We drive down into the state park and picnic and hike and play on the swings.

Saturday was a girl's day out with friends at the local craft fair and a great lunch. then I went into my classroom to clean up after the sub, and everything was cleaner than I had left it! I put in a few hours of school work, and headed home just as it got dark.

Loghead set up new webcam and we skype with Princess. Cool technology. We can see she's trying a new hair color. I'm a little hurt by her and a few things she's done. Some I've vented about here, and someI haven't yet. I saw a few things, and leave, since Gibby is dying to show her his new Lego toy.

Loghead crawls in bed and snuggles up next to me and falls asleep before SNL can even begin.

Actually, a perfect end to my 2 days of bliss...
