DH and I are no longer planning our weekends around SD's EOW.
On Saturday, DH, BD5, BS2 and myself all went on a beautiful train ride through the mountains without SD. SD will be coming over tonight and I know DD5 will not be able to help herself; She's going to tell all about it.
The train ride was Beautiful. We went through the mountains and over rivers up to a lake for an Easter egg hunt and to meet the Easter Bunny. I feel bad for going on something special like that without her here, but DH and I have come to the decision that we are not planning everything around the weekends that SD is here. It's not fair for our children to have to wait for the right weekend. And especially since lately, BM hasn't been bringing SD to the drop offs. SD's schedule is no longer a set schedule, we never know when she's coming.
I'm not looking forward to seeing SD tonight, not because I don't want her here, but because I know DH is going to feel really shitty when DD tells SD about the train. I have pondered on the idea of trying to tell DD not to tell SD..It's just not a good idea. I'm not going to tell my daughter to keep secrets to spare SD's feelings. Ugh.

I know how you feel, we had
I know how you feel, we had the same situation. We finally started just making our plans without taking the weekends into consideration. In fact, if I had to buy tickets to something in advance, like Disney, I planned the trip for when SD wasn't here. We could not afford to spend the money and have it wasted when SD would not show up.
I would not tell her to keep secrets. It is what it is. My DD is the same age as SD, and when SD would ask why she didn't get to go, DD would tell her that she should have come in to visit. It's the truth!
