Victorian Bush Fires

KeepsGettingBetter's picture

I don’t know where to start. So much has happened in the last 1 and half weeks.
The last you guys would of read was that BM wanted to go to BF grandmothers funeral. Anyway long story short, she didn’t end up coming as she had to pick the skids up from school for us as our babysitter end up falling through.
Funeral went as well as what a funeral can be, but our devastation didn’t end there.

Most of you would of heard about the bush fires here in Australia (Victoria) well BF and I live right in the middle of bush land.
BF, skids, dogs and I are all ok, we are just very shaken up. It was the most horrific experience I never want to go through again.
Thank God that our house is 1 of a few that is still standing. It came up to about 50 meters from the back door and about 100 meters from the front door. It has damage a lot of our property and our house was only saved thanks to our back door neighbour who to this day we have never met. The rest of our once beautiful bush land is now very dull, grey and very depressing. This fire has killed many of our dear friends in our community that were unfortunately unable to escape this dreadful monster.

Many things have happened in the last week, from BM not giving a hoot weather we still had our house or not or weather her kids are save to ex girlfriends ringing BF on Valentines Day. I will fill you guys more in on this as soon as I can.

I am an emotional mess at the moment and trying to seek some counselling to help cope with this ordeal.

Think of the damage of 500, yes 500 Hiroshima bombs going off in 1 place and the damage and destruction that would cause, that is what my home town now looks like now. Just devastating.

I am so sorry to hear of your losses-what a tragedy. Thank goodness you're ok-at least not physically harmed. It sounds as tho it must look like you're in the middle of a war zone-I can't even imagine.

There simply are no words. (((((hugs)))))

Was spared! My DH has relatives in Australia and we have heard from them (they were not affected) -about the devastation from the bush fires.

Take care and take it one day at a time!
