Anyone missing a Dog?? LOL
A couple weeks ago FSD and her friends "found" a puppy while walking from another friends house. This dog is a purebred and probably worth $500+. I don't know what to do. I feel in my heart that these crazy girls were walking and this puppy was in someone's yard and it might have followed them or something and they picked it up and ran. This dog belongs to someone who paid a lot of money for it. I feel really bad...haven't had any luck finding the owner. I think that no one know's the truth and I feel really bad about the whole thing. Everytime I look at the puppy I think to myself...I am harboring a stolen dog.

Call local shelter/humane
Call local shelter/humane society, report it found.
List him/her as Found on Petfinder.com
Contact the local (likely, this means "state") Purebred Rescue group for that breed, and report the pup found.
Take it to a vet or shelter, and ask them to scan for a microchip.
Unregistered purebreds are often available for $75-$200.
In general, pet stores (who frequently sell badly bred, poorly cared for animals) charge a lot more for purebreds whose "papers" are questionable, and whose quality is generally poor, for LOT more money than that. You're better off with the unregistered one out of someone's back yard, often.
And, of course, responsible breeders sell pups for more--and barely break even on breeding a litter, with medical care, and the careful screening and testing that have gone into the parents.
Okay...off my soapbox....but the above suggestions may help the pup find his/her way HOME.
Have you checked craigslist
Have you checked craigslist for lost dogs? Most people post there first. Also, place a "found" ad on there...but make sure the person can give you some details about the dog before you allow them to claim it.
Next thing, call your local pound/humane society and ask if anyone's reported a missing dog. Most shelters and vets can scan for a microchip, which will give you the exact info for the owners.
Let us know what you find out! Also, if it were me, I would press charges on anyone that stole my dog! That is terrible if they actually did steal it and didn't "find" it.
A lot of newspapers will run
A lot of newspapers will run FOUND ads for free. You might want to check with yours.
She has no microchip. I took
She has no microchip. I took her to my vet to check her and asked him to put up a lost dog sign and put my number. I have been checking the paper and craigslist to see if anyone is looking for this dog and nothing. I haven't contacted the Humane Society yet but that sounds like a good idea.
