Update to the baby duck

So I ended up calling a wild bird rehabilitator in my area. I know her because 2 years ago a baby English sparrow flew inside of my car and broke his wing. She kept her for 2 weeks and gave her back to me so I still have her.

So anyway she said that the baby duck really needed to be with other baby ducks and not all alone. She also said it will get too used to people. I brought it over to her and she had a whole bunch of baby ducks. She had 11 baby wood ducks and one baby mallard which is what I had. She was also waiting for someone to bring over 4 baby mallards.

It was so cute and it nestled right in with all of the others. This duck was really the sweetest thing. It just wanted to be held and cuddled with. I carried it around the house in my sweatshirt most of the time.

I am sad to see it go but I am happy that it will be well taken care of and its with others. She said she will probably release them in September.

PERFECT! Glad to hear that baby will get the life he/she deserves.

I went through several of these same scenarios with struggling with what to do with baby wildlife. A few squirrels, turtles, raccoons and birds. I ALWAYS ended up giving them to rehab centers so they'd have the chance to be WILD, which is what nature intended.

So glad you made the right choice for him/her. Good job honey!

She said the poor baby was no more than 3 days old!! I felt bad for it being all alone. It will be much happier now. I still struggle with the fact I have this poor English Sparrow living in my living room. He has a broken wing and can't be released into the wild but I still feel bad for him. Actually its a girl.

That's awesome! We have a wildlife rehabilitor near us who takes in all sorts of critters. My DH & I occasionally take them fish for the larger birds. I really believe I have more compassion for animals than people Wink

I definitely love animals more than people!!! The kids and DH are very jealous of my two pugs }:)
