DH is lucky he didn't get a fork in the eye

We are out to lunch (a rare occurrence for us) and are discussing this program available where the kids can have three hours of fun/play time and get served dinner, so DH and I can have a date night. We seriously have not gone out just the two of us for years. I asked for that for Christmas last year. I am still waiting.

DH says, "$40 is expensive for a babysitter." The program is $20 per kid. OK, so I know where I rate in terms of money spent.

I waited a few minutes, then said, "How many tattoos does SD20 have again?" "I don't know, four or five?" She probably has more like eight to 10, but whatever. He didn't draw the parallel that he hands money over to SD20 hand over fist (hundreds of dollars a month) so she can blow it on crap like tattoos but he won't spent $40 on our kids so we can have an evening together.

He's lucky he didn't end up with a fork in his eye, but I didn't have the energy for a fight (long week).

I had the exact same conversation!! There is a Parents night out at the gymnastics studio in our neighborhood, it's $30 and $5 for additional siblings from 6 to 10pm I think it's a great deal he thinks its ridiculous. He wants to use my mom cause in his mind it is free (It's not I always have to buy her dinner, she always wants chinese food, she always wants shrimp so it ends up not being much less.) I agree with Mairin take them it will be cool for them and go out by yourself!

Ah... your DH!

Although...I find that the ridiculous SD15 spending habits tend to work in my favor. Like I recently found out that between DH, SDs grandma, and DHs Aunt that SD15 got over $1000.00 in back to school clothes, hair, shoes, supplies, etc. Just freaking ridiculous! But guess what hot mamma just got two new pairs of boots and a new cell phone? And guess what disney dad, doesn't dare say a fucking word about it?

Treat YOURSELF girl!!! I figure if I don't spend MY money (within reason) on myself and BS3 that DH will just spend it on SD, so might as well enjoy MY money!

"Ah... your DH!"

Yeah, he's awesome, isn't he? This is the same guy who said to me recently, "I was going to buy you flowers, but then they told me they were going to charge me $10 to deliver them, so I said forget it." It's the thought that counts, right? Right?

Wow. Obvious where his priorities lie.
I would be pissed.
Why wouldnt he want a night out with his beautiful wife? $40 isn't much at all. I would just tell him if you have money to spend to appease your GROWN 20 year old daughter, then you have $100 to spend to take me out and the kids to the sitter.

As I was reading this, part of me was actually thinking (hoping) that this would end with you suggesting to DH that instead of paying $40 for the kids to be baby-sat, that he drop them off at a tattoo parlor and leave the kids there to get $400 tattoos while you and DH have your date night.
